Since owning my R32 gts-t, i've almost always wanted it to be a GTR.

I love everything about my gts-t, but it still lurks in the back of my mind that I still don't have the GTR.

Am I alone?

i've been asked this question by mates a couple times...

to the technical side the only thing that makes me feel like i've been cut short is that i don't own the original pedigree of nissan. people that own the r32 gtr own a part of nissan's history.

apart from that the way i see it is that i own a sports car used for drifting motorsport which i love, rather than a race car used for racing motorsport which i'm not so interested in. i also have the benefit of cheaper parts and wrecker availability!

my2c :O

I dont wich my car was a GTR, but i wich Nissan had built the GTR right from the factory. I dont want a GTR because its 4wd...i would much rather Nissan have built a rwd, 2.6L R32 with wider alloy panels, better brakes and interior etc. Imagine if the GTR was sub 1300kgs without the dramas many owners end up having because the silly diffs etc in the sump

I'm more interested (yep, I do day dream, sky is the limit) in a beefed up GTR

(What I mean is doing the stupid/impossible/senseless kinda thing, like getting a V12 and stuff it into a GTR shell)

Hey, you can't stop me day dreaming right?

yeah considering selling the 33 gtst and getting an r32 gtr. i could put more money/performance into the 33, but then i'll start running into traction issues + i'd rather have a car that's more nible with 4wd. i got test driven in a 32gtr, i liked everything about it except 2 things, it's age and the seat comfort

now where's that poll fool :)

If theres one thing i have learnt from owning a GTR is that they are expecive, they say owning a GTR is like owning a Porshe it doesnt matter if you can afford it, it matters if you can afford it when it breaks. But on a positive note you do own a part of nissans racing history and the experiace is unbelievable almost unlimitless traction but in differant cases you can have very limitless traction, in the wet weather there amazing and on a dry track there even better. Yes GTR's are quick in a straight line and the awd system has been ahead of its time for the last 10years but if you dont understand basic racing ethics you will never unleash the GTR's full potential. So mony aside yes everyone should experiace a GTR but if cant afford to fix it dont really bother just find someone else with one and make them drive you everywere because even if its not yours and even if your just a passenger its worth it.

No I do not wish I owned a GTR instead of my GTS-4, the RB20DET has been underestimated by a lot of people. By the time i'm done I will make quite a bit of power and rev nicely to 12,000 rpm..

no gtr for me,happy with my gtst,as was said before alot more money involved that can be spent on other things, like my twin turbo 318 v8 valiant project in my garage

Yes i would definately love it to be a gtr if someone else was paying for it, to me the only problem with a gtr is that they are too expensive to own and maintain

i would never be able to afford one in my lifetime but my 33 gts25t does me but i wouldn't mind the gtr's traction for all those commodore freaks pulling up beside me revving and screaming their V8s trying to get me to race, most times i don't bother with them or i'll stir them up and take off slowly

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
