Just thought id spill my emotions here and hope that some of you feel the same way.

Why is it that everytime someone sees those cycloptic eyes on the back of the skyline they wanna start something? They rev you out, the try and take over you, the driver stares at you like theres going to be a showdown.

Why is most of these numb skulls Holden drivers and funny enough not Fords? Is it the whole bathurst thing?

Why do cops always hound me because some aholes bring a bad name to Skylines and other performance car brands?

Why is that some d!ckhead (another customer) felt like he could step in my car to check it out at an exhaust service place while im standing right there?!

Why do people jump on the bandwagon with Skylines when they have no real passion?

Why do people actualy waist so much money on mods and then say i wanna sell to upgrade?? Do you not love the masterpiece you created, that you slaved over? While we go and buy the magazines and droll over it and wish we could actualy fork up the cash to do the same?

Why do idiots drag race on public roads, seriously man why is it a need to proove you can go quicker than the guys next to you, should the thrill of the accelaration be when on your on open roads, or for the track? Because at the end of the day your getting to the next set of lights 2-3 seconds quicker. He will be right next to you again or overtake you becuse the traffic on your side is worse.

I know, it itches to slam your foot down , i have paid the price for it, its realy lame. Loosing your licence and watching your car sit there is no prize for going quick.

Why do europeans have the image of being hooligans in cars? All i see on the news is the anglos and asians crashing there cars and we get slammed because the system is to loud...proove me wrong in terms of ratio.

Overall , its an honor to drive next to Skylines, it amazing how they never wanna drag, and when i see them ther role up and cruise in sicn with the exhaust noise doubling....theres always the slide the window down and ask whats udner the bonnet, that respectful. And thats they way we should all roll.

Didnt mean to offend anyone with my words.....

why?????!!!!!!!

owning a skyline or driving one, society gives you a stereotytpical view its just the way it goes. cops will hound you, people will wanna race, bogans and tradies will yell out the window "jap crap! get a real car!" ect.. ect..

just like people who drive Kombi's are feral hippies, MX5 are a hair dressers car, a hot mum in a Range rover is a trophy wife who doesnt work. all thse may not be the case at all but people /society views it that way.

i do feel your pain though..

Why does when selling a Skyline, does the market seem to be full of more fearful, timewasting, know-it-all-experts (who actually have bugger all clue about cars let alone life) than any other car I have ever sold? And I have owned 30 odd of various types.

Skylines can be difficult to own, that is for sure.

Don't agree. I would have just as many Skylines wanting to have a go as any other make/model. Commodore drivers would want to do it for the same reason as Skyline drivers would. They feel the need to prove themselves. The thing is which you have to remember too, is that there are a shitload more Commodores on the road than Skylines, so naturally, you are going to have more hero's trying to race you in a Commodore than another Skyline. The thing is with Commodores and Fords, they are the most 'socially excepted' cars in Australia. Therefore, you have to remember that people from all different walks of life / values / morals have grown up with these cars.

What do you classify as passion though?

You don't need to have a passion for Skylines to own one. In previous years, honestly, I never use to have any time for them for various reasons. Was never a fan. The only reason I decided to test drive one was because I had seen so many of them on the road, there must be something half decent about them. The day I jumped in, I couldn't believe how well balanced, and how much fun I could have in this R32. I enjoy driving my car, and I have started to appreciate them a lot more than what I have beforehand. I still don't like a lot of Skylines...therefore I guess I could say I'm not as passionaite for them as some people on here. Should it stop me from driving one?

Its because of the minority that ruin it for other people. Its also a bit of common sense. If someone is to see a Hiace next to them at the lights or a Skyline who do they think the car enthusiast is? Because modified cars are in such a lime light of being the cars where the drivers cause the most trouble, they automatically think, Skyline - Enthusiast - Will Race Me. The world revolves around the media. Unfortunately, most people believe any hype thats thrown on TV. It also doesn't help when they have footage on Youtube of modified car drivers (I wont call them enthusiasts) of people sliding, speeding & racing on public roads.

You certainly haven't offended me, just thought i'd throw another view at it :)

all i can say is, booo-freaking-hooo.

it may sound harsh, but u knew what u were getting into when u bought a skyline.

now if u have mods, the best thing would be to keep it stealth. this is what i and many people are doing to avert those gay vl and the taunts.

"probably because u drive it around like a ricer"

What exactly defines a "ricer's" driving habits?

All I could say from my experiences of driving on the road with asians is that some are the worst drivers in the world, HOWEVER, ofcourse there are a substantial amount of drivers who are exceptional behind a wheel, so how can you define a certain type of driving?

Not having a go, just want an explanation of a "ricer's driving habits" if you have one.

Only time i was ever pulled over by the cops in the doofmobile, was when i was just pulling into the driveway at work (I'm a Financial Controller, wear a suit n shit ), and they came up the road, sirens blaring, pulled into the driveway at like 60ks an hour (i do it at about 3)... So i stopped the car, wound the window down, say g'mornin and asked what i can do for them... They said there was an armed robbery a few hours ago (like 4am), and my car matched the description... I said, well, I just woke up... I dont think its me you're looking for... They said, yeah, you're right... and left...

It wasn't until later in the office, i heard it was a white club spec WRX that they were after... Anyone elses skyline look like a club spec WRX?

Never been dragged either... one guy wanted to, revved and motioned, I declined, and he was polite about it :D Nice guy :)

Obviously, I'm not really into racing, and i think that shows... Dunno why everyone else gets surrounded by dickheads on the road...

I have been pulled over more in the following cars, then my own modified skyline:

Mazda MX5 (funny story one of those times)

Corolla Seca

Mercedes something something

Toyota Celica

Mitso GSR lancer turbo thing

Porsche Boxter (on my L's... LOL!)

'78 Honda Prelude

think thats about it... They must see the plate, the stock rims, stock height and stock exhaust and just not bother... And i don't blame em

    • You Gregged a whole racetrack!?
    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
