Haha thanks! I got this direct from an importer. International Motor Group i believe they are called, really outstanding service thus far i couldn't be happier :P I can understand your excitement, i cant wait until next week!

Holy Carp, what do you do to own the cars you do at that age? ^^^

OP: Very nice :P Given free reign, that's exactly the car I would buy. Yeah chuck on an exhaust, but plan thoroughly if you're gonna mod it :P

Honestly i've just been lucky having an opportunity to make reasonable money earlier on, i'm actually a uni student. I am thinking very carefully about mods, at this stage i'm going to get Cam gears, Power FC D-Jetro (Spelling?) and a full exhaust (Dumps / cat etc) as they get a huge power and potential increase from those mods from what i've been told. After that i'll be happy for a fair while i think :)

PowerFC D-Jetro? No.

You want a standard PowerFC. The D-Jetro is for people who replace their AFM's with MAP sensors and this is not something you want to do on your car. Maybe if you were chasing 900awhp

From those mods you will pickup a little hp from the ECU mostly.

Don't bother replacing the dumps the R34 GTR dumps are great and stainless from the factory, you don't need to change these until you do the turbos. Plus they come with great heat shields to keep the heat inside the exhaust improving engine bay temps and exhaust gas flow.

Also - to be honest - I wouldn't buy cam gears. The simple reason is you will probably want cams down the track and it is cheaper to buy the cams and cam gears in a set from Tomei.

So my advice is,

- standard PowerFC - These are cheap as chips for BNR34

- New big Catco metal cat - $440 from JustJap

- Cat back exhaust - Kakimoto or HKS

- Front pipes - HKS

Any more than that and you will need a new clutch, Nismo Super coppermix twin plate is the only one to get imo - $2k mark.

Then later do turbos(HKS), cams+gears(tomei), dumps(tomei) and go nuts

Thanks for that advice mate, appreciate it! Glad i didn't spend money where i didn't have to! I'll get some prices and sort out the exhaust first up :spank:

    • That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.
    • They are daft and there's a reason it never caught on. Steering feel? We don't need no stinking steering feel!
    • I gotta pull you up on this. It's driving me crazy. A shutter is something that closes, like over a window or in a cmera. The word you want is shudder. That LSD is clearly f**ked. Take it to a diff shop and get it disassembled and examined by an expert. YOu might have plates welded together or something equally crazy.
    • Define "starting to fail". Wy not just rebuild them?
    • Check the Nistune doco. There are a few assumptions being made here that might not be valid. I will list the things that occur to me: Base map. Base map for what? Base map for Z32? Then the cranking pulse width is probably wrong for an RB25. The extra 500cc of capacity might well be enough to prevent it from catching. Base map for RB25? I don't think you can load one of those into a Z32. You have to just make the settings correct for an RB25 in the Z32 base map. That is either K or the TIM to get the pulsewidth right. Loom. You bought a loom for an RB. And you plugged it into a Z32 ECU. Did you make sure that any iwre differences were swapped. From memory, there's at least a couple. And as per the others, I would suggest making sure that the fuel pressure is correct while cranking and that the injectors are actually flowing as expected. They really must come out and go on the bench, unless you do find that you have messed up as per above points. I would also suggest watching in Nistune to make sure that everything is reading correctly. That the correct binary flags are raised at the right time (like the crank signal), that there's no stupid values in K or TIM. That you have not got mismatched firmware for the ECU and/or a wrong image loaded.
