i've been meaning to fix up my crappy suspension for a while .. right now its screwed as there are low springs at the front .. i dont' know which ones .. and there are normal ones at the back ... so my choices are either coilovers or springs ... i've had a hard think and i've come to the conclusion that springs are a better choice due to cost ... coilovers = 1k plus camber kit ... so thats about 1.5k when everything is done .. i'd rather spend that money on other things like sound system or mags or even for a rainy day ... what i want to know is ... how many of u guys are running kings on stock shocks?? have u had any problems?? was the handlin much better?? what are the different spring "levels" i can get? will i have camber problems as well??

thanks

i know this probably isn't relevant cos i dun have an r33 but ive put 1.5in lowered king springs in my hr31 with standard shocks. Im pretty sure they are progressive rate springs and although they have a much higher spring rate than standard, to my surprise they are almost as soft as the originals. got em on special for $250 all round from car toys. They are fine for the moment but you gotta get 4 konis or biltzienz aswell......

My mechanics apprentice has King Springs on standard shocks on his R33 and says it is worse than the standard springs. It handles like a bag of @#$*. I've put Pedders springs on mine and am quite happy with them. I will eventually get new shocks though. The stiffer springs don't quite match the standard shocks properly.

You will find the standard shocks with uprated springs will tend to make the car bounce all over the place as the standard shocks aren't up to the task on dampening the stiffer springs. Thats what mine did, when I added the Bilsteins all round it was a totally different car, handles great now.

hi hip,

i had kings lows (1inch lower) with std shocks, and the handling was without a doubt better than with the std springs. I had none of the bouncing that was mentioned, perhaps my std shocks are in good nick?

either way it will handle better than what youve got now! as ive seen the rake angle your running!

I tried to order superlows, through autobarn mile end, and apparently they dont do them anymore. And anyway, lowering more than an inch is detrimental to handling unless you get coilovers.

even with 1inch lowered i had mild camber problems, the inner rears got eaten out pretty quick (thru lots of launches and wheelspinning tho).

So basically if your going kings, youll be getting the lows (1inch). If you remember last time you sold me the wheels i mentioned i had a set of lows? still have them, 6 months use if that. I will prob sell them if you want, but i need to see how the ride is with the new teins before i do -im back in adelaide next week.

Pm me if your interested dude and we can meet up, prob looking for around 200 bucks? paid 290. Depending on how much time i got, might even be able to fit them for you too.

I was thinking of getting some King Springs for my R33 too with the standard shockers. I saw some really cheap ones on ebay brand new (actually not sure if they are cheap) $90 for a pair of low (30mm) and super low (50mm). The reason I think it is cheap is because the guy at the tyre shop wanted $380 to get my car lowered with the same springs. So if I buy these and install it myself, will be saving $200 :)

I just hoping that it is easy to put in and handle better and not worse!!!

Cheers
