Hey fellas,

I was wondering if $5,000 would buy a R32 - my youngest brother loves Skylines; we have 2 already at home and he wants to be the proud owner of a third... he's only just turned 18 and got his P's a couple of weeks ago, he wants a N/A Automatic R32 more so just for crusing purposes... I'm having a bit of trouble finding an old but fairly working R32 for him... anyone know of or has any R32 Skylines that would like to suggest.

We're from Melbourne and the buy would probably take place in a couple of weeks.

Cheers,

Thanks fellas.... honestly, thank you all...

TM_R33: mate, he's got an automatic license. Yeah, he's only got $5K on the dot and doesn't make much as he works only twice a week at Red Rooster and they pay like $7 an hour or something... poor guy can't wait any longer... I know R32's are worth around $8K, so damn... hope someone can help him...

hmm being an apprentice i earn not alot either. i just owe the bank 15k for an r33 lol.

spose your brother cant consider a loan if he doesnt earn enough to pay it back tho :)

he will also need money for insurance and rego and maintainance too remember

hey man, really depends if your in the right place in the right time, picked mine up for $5000 exactly, its an na manual with bodykit, 18's and a great condition interior. the paint was on its way out but the car is straight as. engine and gearbox in perfect order.

So yer man there out there you just have to be lucky enough. chasing an auto would make life a little easier i would imagen. hit up the importers.

if you no your stuff you might find getting a shell cheap (again friend just picked 1 up for $3000 wit wheels kit gtr bonnent awesome paint interior) and getting a cheap na motor(ive got 1 4 sale) gearbox god no's there out there.

good luck any way mate.

Thanks mate.... appreciate your advice... yeah, unfortunately... I don't know of many places... accept carsales.com.au and SAU...

Oh well, just gotta hope something comes along soon.

$5k should get him a nice 89 heap but then add rego, insurance, servicing, petrol... Unfortunately your brother may have to face the reality that he cant have a skyline at this stage of his life or he could buy one and it will be off the road soon and he wont be able to afford to fix it.

no idea which thread, but i seen on here an awesome blue auto r32gts fresh paint, everything looked the goods

for like $5500-$6500 not sure which price, but was one of them.

Just stay on the hunt dude, youll for sure find 1 on here, maybe even a cefiro.

should be able to pick up a CA18DE auto silvia for that in pretty good condition.

I'd expect panels to fall off an R32 at that price... or be incomplete, crash damaged, dredged from the bottom of a lake, etc.

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
