On the topic of rb25 turbos. Is there a difference between the s1 and s2 turbos? i was at an importer today having a look and there was 2 'rb25' turbos there. One looked smaller that the other. The other one looked to have a larger rear housing...

S2 and S1 are the same except that the S2 have a lighter impeller wheel than S1 (slightly faster spooling)

.. only the 34 neo turbs have bigger housings i'm pretty sure (vg30 rear)

r34 neo turbos use a plastic or nylon wheel ... the turbo is fundermentally the same as the r33 turbo no larger housing

R33 series 2 and R34 GTT have Plastic compressor wheel (front of the turbo) and ceramic exhaust wheel (back of the turbo)

R33 series 1 has steel compressor wheel and ceramic exhaust wheel)

R33 series 1 and 2 have exactly the same size housings/wheels.

R34 GTT has a LARGER exhaust housing and exhaust wheel

Rebuild of a blown R33 gtst turbo (series 1 or 2) will start around $1000 for a non ball bearing, steel wheels on both ends, hiflow and go up to just over $2K for the same job using Ball bearing cartridge.

so how much boost can ur high-flow take? turbo dave.....

do u no its limit?

and are restricted to 15psi?

or is becoz of ur e-mange u can boost higher than a 1bar???

i tht u would get a bit more power than that outa a high-flow..

ive only FMIC, CAT-BACK HKS dragger, spiltfires with re-gapped ngk plugs to 0.8, apexi neo afc, bleed valve

and i make 190rwkw...at 13psi

mayb u need standalone mangement....

im after power fc, after fuel pump, and z32 afm...

but im hoping to pull bigger numbers than that, wit a high-flow....

Mine is an auto so they drag about 25-30rwkw I have been told, so if it was manual it would be around 250-260rwkw which is as far as want to go with a stock engine.

If you are wanting more from a stock engine then I think the longevity of your engine and turbo will suffer.

I was also told by the guy who HiFlowed my turbo that 15psi is the sweet spot for that turbo.

Hope you get what you are aiming for from your HiFlow but the kw number isnt of much importance to me, as long as it drives good and Im happy with the power then thats all I want.

No offence but the 190rwkw you have wouldnt feel anything like a 235rwkw Hiflow.

Also the midrange pull from my car now is unreal, my stock turbo wasnt even close to being in the same race.

I am no expert but these are my opinions from what I have experienced and read about so far.

i recon wit a power fc and z32 afm, and a new fuel pump, i will be pushin close to those numbers...

my mid-range is crap now..lol

but dont forget im still on the stock computer, wit just a piggy-back...

so thats my main problem...

but wit a pfc, that should be solved...

and i recon ur e-mange fix'd ur mid-range issue too...

but how does ur e-mange handle wit the high-flow?

why not go wit standalone???

and im unsure about how much an auto/manual rb25det engine can take?

i tht it would b around the 300rwkw mark? but thats me..

dont forget every turbo and engine is different..

so yeah,

oh, by the way dave..urs is a series 2 rit?

Yeah Series2, 300rwkw is way more than I have seen a hiflow pull from what I have read on here in the rb25 results thread, safely anyway.

The stock exhaust housing runs out before then I think so thats when the VG30 rear housing comes into it along with a little more lagg.

But yeah, I was told 260rwkw limit on the stock engine if I want it to last so thats about 235rwkw with an auto like I said before.

From my understanding the Emanage Ultimate is very adjustable and doesnt hinder power output due to being a piggyback, I went for the Piggyback as they are more compatible when running an electronic auto.

Look through any of the major threads relating to ECU's and new engine management systems... IT should show you that the end result between the EMU and PFC are pretty much the same... It just depends on what your tuner is good at tuning etc...

Both are great units... and will net the same result in the end for you provided you have a competent tuner.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
