That's a way bigger hit than I imagined Luke! I reckon you should be able to come off better than $3.5k with the wreck - series II interior, P1 rims, sunroof, etc. But like Nightcrawler said, it's just a matter of waiting out the time before the parts are sold. I still have the stock exhaust from it lying in my garage!

Just hope you can sort out the insurance easily. I'll drop you a PM back soon...

Yep, hard to believe I was only going around 30k/h eh? Thing is I have no idea how fast she was going (I'd guess 60ish k/h) and she was also driving a Kingswood so it was like hitting a brick wall; barely a dent in her car

Where did you 2 hit? Was it in her front left? If can prove that your light was green and you hit her on her front left and she was going fast thru the intersection it means that she was either running a red or flying thru an obvious orange, either way it sucks to see your car like that.

If buying back id like to put in a reservation for the plastic boot latch cover, mines cracked and car toys cut it while installing my sub box.

Cheers

Brad

I'm glad that you're okay Luke. A lady running a red light at the start of the year wrote my car off and put me in hospital. I still have trouble with my neck/back/hips and knee. I guess the question is whether you have the skills, tools, time and patience to pull the car apart and store the parts until they sell. Some potential buyers always stuff you around which can be quite frustrating but you could end up making a few extra $. Good luck.

very glad you are still with us matey

UMmmm, me, Id say ask the company if you can buy back the brand new turbo, and leave it at that.

Move on and forget the ol' girl

Mind you thats me, no kneecaps = no way to strip the car

No my hours of work fitiing that intercooler for you!!!!!

All seriousness i am glad you are ok and that you came out fine with no injuries.

Let me know if you need a hand with anything.

im soooooo sorry my heart goes out to you i cant belive that has happened to you anyway buy your car back mate cause your seats are worth a bit couple hundred and your bootcarpet and everything that isnt damaged is worth a fair bit more than 3500 if you wnt to sell your sunvisers (spelling) i will buy them if they are the same colour as mine

Damn Luke, I saw the pic and that was enough to kick me in the nuts and make me cry.

I know I would be interested in some bits and pieces from your car, so let me know what your going to do buddy.

If anything I am really after that black plastic thing that covers the boot latch, but certainly other stuff could be possible (interior etc)

If buying back id like to put in a reservation for the plastic boot latch cover, mines cracked and car toys cut it while installing my sub box.

I bought one of these for my series 1 from Nissan, cost something like $10 (go figure when they want $200 for some plastic clips)

Anyone able to tell me in total what I'd be expecting back realistically if I did buy it back aqnd strip it?

I was in a similar situation 5 months ago, and was told that any items not specifically mentioned on my insurance policy (e.g. the turbo and stereo) could be swapped for stock parts prior to the insurance company taking the car.

For $3500 it sounds like it would be worth you wrecking it yourself. If you need a hand or some tools let me know as I’m happy to help out where I can (for the odd beer whilst working LOL)

Glad to here you wernt hurt.

    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
