well,

bom website shows rain over gosford way, nothing down south. f**k. im half asleep and can do with 5 hours more. dammit. ok, leaving soon!!!!

Internet talkers aye?

Well, Im still at home....rear right wheel area making stupid noises.

came back home, jacked car up, couldnt see much or anything that stood out. free spun the wheel, no noise. took wheel off, had a look, couldnt see anything.

wheel back on, go to drive in first, clunking/metal noises again.

It's started raining out here now anyway.

+1 for new car

clunking doesn't sound good. Otherwise i'd blame a bearing, or maybe the diff fairies came and installed a 1.5 way while you were asleep

hah knowing me its just something basic and easy.

Im gonna change tyres abck to the the road tyres and see what happens

new car - bah - I love this car too much!

put my road tyres back on...and so far so good, no noise...

thread here for thoughts etc http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Cl...se-t198667.html

I've run into a few problems. Took my car in to get the sway bar plates and link on.

When they jacked it up they said it wouldn't damage the sil to put the supports there - it did ! Now I have to take it in for repair and paint on Monday

In the future I'm going to have to get tough and tell them to let me position the 4 point jack personally.

unfortunately got given the wrong sway bar link to go with the mounting plate

Looks like I have to wait til 2nd Jan to get replacement.

This time i'm going to buy both the right and left as spares and get them welded with two strips of reinforcent longitudinally so they don't snap every 6 months.

I seem to remember seeing something about a track day on 7th Jan?

Dam man that sucks bad

hope you get it all sorted out asap.

There is a day at Wakie with autosports 19th jan however unsure if it has sold out.

I know theres a few days early jan at OP for L2S days. best to double check with them,

cheers, chris/weeevillllll

man i am SO exhausted......

cooked the brake fluid on the first session going hardcore into corneres.....

came into the pit with smoke pouring out of the front rims and having absolutely no pedal pressure at all

spent the next few sessions trying NOT to use the brakes around the turn

which led to me drift around a corner, spin out and crunch a bit of my front bar

But damn, that was too much fun. Still got a few corners I could improve upon but overall my street tyres are a suprisingly good combo for the currently power level.

Think I'll take it easy now........6 events and the engine is still alive and kicking. Nissan sure know how to make a good car.

thanks Duncan and Neil for all the help.

Boys and Girls GET OUT THERE AND DRIVE!!!!!!! $120 for the whole day and you practically get the track all to yourselves....what more could you ask for!!!

lol who need brakes anyway..

yeah the day was fun, my first ever lap was a bit nervous which leads me to a massive spun out in teh second corner,

but nuh after a few laps, got the hang of it, pushing my luck to keep up with everyone

didnt get a chance a use up all the cable tie which was a bummer..

next time i mite get a few semi n better pads, top it up with good oil and all

yeah james mate, bl with the front bar, initial d style, but you will prob pick up a few chicks with the bar ;)

my last lap was like clutch n handbrake every corner and try to worn my tyres outta abit lol

but meh

anyway off to wash the nugget..

Thanks Duncan for the paper work, knew i was gonna sign my life away haha again..

good stuff guys  yeah you had some good weather today!

was it busy in the L2S group?

sheng - do not get semi's!!!

trust me - learn as much as you can on street tyres. The last few years Ive been on street tyres. You learn your limits and car control, this year I finally got semi comp tyres!

hahah it was damn quiet today wasn't it? probably the quietest weekend track day I've ever seen. I reckon there would have been 0 cars for the last open wheeler session.

Sheng, from now on your name is "spin king" I might just change it now. I almost killed myself laughing when I saw you had your headlights on, I realised it was to blind oncoming traffic when you were pointing the wrong way in turn 2

bad luck about the front bar James. In the end the most important thing you can do to prep for a track day is to put new quality brake fluid in.....so chuck some motul rbf600 in and I'm sure the brakes will be fine - the 33 GTST are among the best brakes on a stock car.

Duncan,

heres an idea....

for 2008....if the L2S days are that quiet at OP - perhaps we could have a "mini series!"

lol @ spin king, change it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11ty

    • Given you're running a 2.8 and my 2.5 is not really like for like, I suspect there could be a bit more timing you could give it. What is the kW yield per degree you're putting through it? Here's my E85 map to give you an idea, where it was I could still get another 3~4kW per degree thrown at it.
    • It turns out that Setrab make a fan specifically for the oil cooler which is great and I've installed it with minimal swearing. I removed my 2x 12in push fans from the front of my aircon condenser and wired them into this. My main thermo fans kick on when I use the aircon anyway and would effectively already be working as puller fans through the condensor which is infront of the rad. The push fans (understandably) didn't really do much in the config they were previously in so now they're out. Now we're on to the "Oil fan doesn't really do much either!". Yes I'll duct it next if it does nothing in heavy use which it shouldn't. But hey, the object exists and fits great and is cool. Let me have this. The car is still in the "do my fittings leak oil now? do my wheels actually rub?" phase. I did a spirited drive on them and didn't hear or feel anything. Then I got back home and noticed there were grind marks on the inside of the rims, though I couldn't see where they were touching I got out the grinder and attacked the suspects. Note: I do not know how to use a grinder. Then I realised I had dragged my new rims across my concrete driveway before I did this drive. I didn't think I had damage at that time when I briefly looked...... but remembered this occurred after I did all the angle grinding. The grinding on the wheels in some very specific spots. It's not around the whole rim for example, which lines up with dragging it across concrete more than hitting a suspension component for even 1 full rotation. So everything is currently painted and taped up and I need to test it some more to see if it really IS rubbing, but from inside the car it doesn't feel like it is. In other news I attempted to do a before and after comparison of the heads/cam upgrade thing. Dynos lie, everything is in different measurements. Here is the data from the sandown back straight. Car go faster than before. Vroom vroom.
    • Here's my base ignition. +3 correction to redline when shooting water/meth which is always on. Looking at my old ignition table, I should be able to add 1-2 degree's next time I'm on the dyno.  Let me know your thoughts.
    • Given what I know now - same haha, but this was 12 years ago with second hand 740cc Nismo injectors in my S15 daily, I was too busy hunting elsewhere for the issue to even look at the injectors, running through some cleaner was a happy coincidence haha
