^ I would guess 95% of cops couldnt pick an genuine evo from a riced up ES... they probably think you're just another gay guy driving a grily lancer :)

Haha, but must say I enjoy driving an evo that cops think is a riced up es lancer than a whale jap commo thats cops love :P lol

That was on a SAU cruise wasn't it? You're confused Sam. We were playing piggy in the middle and the cop just wanted to clarify the rules.

haha David yep that was on the sau cruise, lol @ the piggy in the middle :laughing-smiley-014:

he told me off cos i put one wheel onto the solid white line, and told Jase off for not having much rear tread

I once had a cop car pass me in the other direction.

And i didn't bother posting a topic about it.

Who really cares, you whinge and get defected. If they can defect you then of course they are going to pull you over.

If they pull you over and don't defect you whoop di do case closed.

hey all

im a P plater drive a 32 and just this weekend i drove past a defect station on the other side of the road i thought myself pretty lucky(thought too soon), it seems that the police have jumped into their car and proceeded to chase me down even as i was driving normally.

well about 300m down the road cops have pulled me over and i received a defect more my exhaust which is too loud but only 94 db aT 3000RPM(who can pick out 4db), and my wheels were sticking out the guards.

anyway while being quized about my car i get the ol' soo you do many burnouts cause these are the cars all the speeding and burnouts are done in didnt you know that and because you drive this car we will pick on you everytime la la la la la at that point i tuned out lol.

but yea i was quite impressed how they chased me down just for a defect i really applaud their efforts lol.

actually ever 3 db is double what you heard so in short words yes they can pick out another 4 db

so 90 db turned up to 93 db is twice as loud from what you origanlly heard, weird huh

lol very straight forward there... ahaha

Yeh, theres not much to it tho. Although we get more attention than other performance cars, its the price we pay for buying these cars. At the end of the day, the owner has to weigh up whether it is worth having the car for the trouble it causes with the boys in blue. Iv decided its worth it, and have copped everything i have gotten from them on the chin. Defected once and pulled over probbaly 5-6 times now in 4 yrs.

Its teh people who go to the bay/hindley st and get defected who really f**k me off. Dont want to get defected or picked on by the cops, stay away from teh areas which attract the most attention (i.e. the areas mentioned above). If you bought ur car purely for the attention it gets from other people, then your driving the wrong car.

End Rant...

Like what you say here mate, it's exactly what i meant. You buy the car cos you like it for what it is not the attention you get from other ppl while driving it. Just want to clarify at the moment that i'm not calling ppl wankers if they get pulled over by the police when they haven't done anything wrong. Seems like alot of ppl have thought thats what i meant but it's not, like i said and other ppl have too, you get plenty of idiot cops out there but there are a few good ones out there and if you want to get rid of these dickheads you gota report em! Remember to get badge numbers ppl and then report them for misconduct or whatever they did.

driving around i seem to be fine, get funny looks but eh jelous mofo's are everywhere usually in the "get a ford/holden variety"

worst cop probs i get is every xmas show i have to put up with this stupid pig b*tching bout both my cars. apperntly because my car has a wing i must be a d*ckhead

a comment was made how the old dato stalls sometimes when its cold,

i say it runs fine it was just made before fuel injection was invented.

pig pipes in with a "there must be something wrong with it, it needs a tune up"

i say "no my dad's a mechanic its well looked after, it just dosnt have FUEL INJECTION"

mr pig displays his lack of knowledge about cars and arrogance for always being right by giving me a look of disbelief and moving onto my skyline

how much the defect cost you, i tell him. he just gives me a"what a waste of money" i respond with a very pissed off "yeah it was"

was just about to let him know how much of a friggen idiot he is infront of everyone but someone else just changed the subject.

so ill have to save it for when he goes for the hat trick next year.

in the mean time if there's any safty flaws in the original subura impreza id love to hear bout them to add to the ammo ;)

Would like to just say that I have cruised up hindley street , rundle street and jetty road many times and I have never ever been pulled over for a defect. (touching wood).

My car is loud but that is all.

I will say that the wife and daughter are in the car with me most of the time though.

The only time I was ever harassed was by an undercover highway cop who I was tempted to take to court.

I was minding my own business on the way home from work on the gawler bypass and in the left lane turning off into the malalla willaston turnoff when he changed from the right lane to the left and proceded to tailgate me around the bend (headlights on up my backside). I looked in my mirror and didn't see double bubbles so gave it a little around the bend and onto the bridge over the bypass in towards willaston. As soon as I was through the round about he flashed the red and blue.

I pulled over and left the car running. He got out with me and proceded to say that he had followed me from munno para.

He accused me of speeding, changing lanes to often, tailgating, failing to keep left and spinning my wheels.

I could do you for a number of things ^^ he said so which would you like. I said your the one issuing the fine so you do what you have to in a polite manner. He booked me for failing to keep left. $180 and 3 demerits. THANKS :P

I was told to take it to court because of the pushing around the corner thing and the chance of 1-10 that he would be too busy to be at court that day but thought otherwise.

(my record of having a lead right foot ^^(3 speeding fines in the GTR)) The judge would'nt believe my word over an officer of the law.

I've since put helium in my shoe. LOL

That's 1 bad experiance .

Then there's the good under cover cop(female) that catched me taking of from the light's on macytyre rd / ne road intersection in the left lane (lane 3) .

I took of and gave it a little as I went around the corner and the car slide a little sideways(in the wet) so I kept my foot slightly on the gas as I waited for the wheels to grip .

I probably got up to 100kphr in a 60 kphr zone( no way condoning this behaviour :domokun: ) and she flashed her lights and I pulled over.

I apologized and explaned why I did it (loss of traction LOL) and she gave me a fine of$90 for excessive noise(wheel spin) and 1 demerit point.

I thanked her and she said be more carful in the future and by the way nice car

Another thing , If we have shiny rims, tinted windows, stickers saying what mods we might have and anything else that makes our car's look modified , we are asking for them to pull us over and have a look at our rides.

So as said above plenty of times, there are good and bad cops .

We just have to be good boys and girls and hopefully we will have no hassles :)

The one thing you have to becareful with down Hindley especially is if the car is fairly loud Police walking will ask you to pull to the side. I've had this happen a good 9-10years ago in my VS 5ltr and have since had a few mates also be pinged in the same way.

but we must admit that some of these cops have absolutely no idea about these cars....or what mods you can do to them....i mate got done for ride height being 5mm too low...but before that the cop went through the engine bay and was holding the bleeder valve in his hand (nice chrome bit) and asks for the BOV at that point my mate replies it has a stock BOV which he pointed it out to the cop....so the cop proceeds and does him for ride height and saggy exhaust....the damn thing doesnt even move....

haha my mate got pulled over and had to pop the bonnet.....

the cop shined the light on on the a cut airbox and asked him if that was his bov

it doesnt matter what kind of motor vehicle you drive

the police will do just that - police their surrounding area. fair enough, thats what they do.

however, if your vehicle draws attention to yourself, then accept that the powers that be may raise an eyebrow and watch for any little reason to pull you over

Im glad I have a stagea, it looks stock and while looking nice doesnt draw undue attention, I believe

It also comes down to how you present yourself, both on the road behind the wheel, and to the officer(s) if you have indeed been asked over for a question or 2.

Ive had a bad experience with an old scottish policeman and his young prop.constable. Pulled over, 5 cars in total. 2 went on, 3 stayed so had 5cops walking around me

3 left, these 2 stayed and frisked me, searched my car (presumed stolen Vp; my dads work lease car, i was 16.5), told them there was weed in the boot (lol)

couldnt understand the old scotish highlander and the young punk was just that

I refused to sign the black book they recorded everything into (it made me sound like a tool), went to court, and had everything thrown out by the judge. There was no proof for speeding (80 in 60, I said yes I was over the limit, 2am Hackam West Cottaeg lane back road, wide, no lights). I was followed thru the back roads (hills, where my parents live) with highbeam right on my arse, I had no idea they were police, I figured hoons out to beat me and pinch me old mans car (went out for ice coffee and cigs).

The backroads are gravel, so I drove along the wheel tracks (middle of the road, like all 100% of traffic up there does) with them up my arse in high beam. I lost them over the big dipper on Kimberlys Road (lol, I love that big dipper, heard from my old bedroom and seen so many accidents there, haha), or so I thought lol. lghts everywhere.

I took photos of the road in question (dangerous driving, and driving with undue care charges, speeding was dropped as no proof) and showed to the Judge that I in fact had done nothign wrong, and i was dismissed. the Prosecuter was red in the face and the Judge put him in his place. Oh lol I didnt swear by the bible; when asked I said Im antireligeous but swear to tell the truth. lol

had some good times too, riding thru the hills for 9 yrs every weekend, never pulled over. Got no-noed once (one finger wave " no no") but that was all, in all those years of high speed action.

But whatever happens, if youve done wrong and been caught then face it. as simple as that. I dont ride anymore, I didnt want my luck to change. With my car, it looks stock, I drive it like it is stock in most areas, but give it a whirl here and there. if it gets looked at so be it, but there s far hasnt been any reason to look at my 'girl. Got the Stag

    • The fab work can be as simple as a couple of silicon hoses and clamps to the factory piping.
    • Just sounds like either way you need to do some fab work to get everything to fit, so why limit yourself at that point? If the GCG high flow option is zero effort in and out swap though I'd probably do that. It's almost certainly lowest risk, lowest cost, etc. The HKS GTIII-RS option that Kapr mentioned is laughably expensive for what it is, they charge the exact same for two turbos on the RB26 so their margins are off the charts on that thing.
    • Intake manifold is not a part of the issue. The turbo bolts to the exhaust manifold. That is easy. But close your eyes and picture the physical situation. That is a T3 flange on the manifold and a T3 flange on the turbo. As long as any new turbo has a T3 flange on the exhaust housing, that exhaust housing will bolt to the exhaust manifold. This places the exhaust housing in the same place as the stock one. But now move your mental attention a little further forward. The location of the compressor housing is set by the length of the turbo's core. The stock turbo had a long core. Let's say that it is..... 100mm long. So that would place the compressor housing 100mm forward of the exhaust housing. But a highflow, might well have a centre core that is shorter. Let's say that it is only 70mm long. Now the compressor housing will be 30mm further back in the engine bay than the stock one. This DOES move the turbo's compressor outlet backwards. It also moves the compressor's inlet backwards. You will very likely have to do some work to both the inlet and outlet piping to make everything connect again. I am not say this to make it out to be a bigger deal than it is. I am just pointing out that "bolt on" is sometimes not quite bolt on. The highflow from GCG that Murray linked above (https://gcg.com.au/turbo-charger-upgrade-skyline-gtst-2iu-xtrgts-s1.html ) uses a core that is the same length as the stock core, and so does not require this extra work. It will look very much like the stock turbo. No-one uses GTR turbos of any flavour (stock, or aftermarket) in a single turbo application on RB20/25. It's not a thing. Yes, people have been putting on GT3076, GTX3076 (and bigger and smaller versions of those) and G30s (of various sizes) onto RB20/25 since forever. But these are not "bolt on". Everything except the 4 bolts to the exhaust manifold change with these. And genuine Garretts are expensive. Non-gen, like Pulsar, etc, are cheaper, variously as good or nearly as good. But still not bolt on. No-one in the right mind would pay for an HKS turbo. Not in this modern day and age. Well, yes, the GCG highflow. You could ask HG what he can do to make the compressor housing sit in the original location. There are surely others doing highflows around the world. And some of the eBay/Temu ones (as reported by Dose) work and don't die. Bit of a lottery though. I would send your turbo to GCG (here in Oz) to be highflowed if you want a trivial no-extra-work option. But seriously, the work required to change inlet and outlet piping is not that hard. That's a boost control problem, not a turbo problem.
    • Thank you all for the replys 🙂 I know that intake would be different but that is one pipe at it is not that hard to get(custom one). I meant mainly bolt to the stock manifold and the turbo elbow. I looked and many sites/forums but they are just "old" with some old HKS turbos from GT-R i guess? What about some Garrets?  Or any other turbo? Is there even a turbo which i can just bolt on? 😄 And yeah i know about that new HKS but that is like 2000k USD without taxes/shipping in here   Iam getting a touch up tune but my "problem" is that on the "not" hot day iam getting peaks around 0,9 bar...and when it was around 15 Celsious i saw peak around 1 bar which is just too much for stock turbo. And of course turbo is old and i like to get some new one for a piece of mind 🙂
    • I'm working on the assumption that our friend Jasmine here is a Russian (or, possibly Ukrainian) spammer/spambot, based purely on the number of such that I have been having to neuter in the last few weeks. IP address for the OP above was in WA. But that could have been via VPN. Posting at quarter to 4 in the morning is a good sign of being from somewhere in Europe. The last Jasmine that I kicked in the cooch was IP addressed in Ukraine. Even that could have been via VPN, and the bitchbot could have been from Russia, Serbia, China or anywhere. Regardless, was a spambot, so I killed it with fire. The fact that our new friend Jasmine here did not respond in any way to my tart query strongly suggests to me that this OP was just the establishment phase of a user able to be activated for spamming in a week, or 3 or 10.
