Recommended Posts

Congrats to all the winners and thanks to Min and Chris on BBQ duty - I don't think I could have got closer to the BBQ if I had tried - we were soo freaking hungry :(

Kaz, your dogs are soo cute. Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself - I was the girl in the grey singlet and jeans :)

BBQ was a fair bit of effort to organise, but i'm glad you all enjoyed it.

Congrats to all the winners, and don't forget to come to the meeting on the 18th to collect prises.

For the new people who came along who felt ostracized I would suggest that by the time you arrived people had already been in the sun for a good couple of hours and were a little knackered. I know I wasn't moving from the marquee.

As many people have already stated SAU is generally very friendly, so please don't let that put you off.

yeah BBQ was awesome, top snags Scotsman!

I should have parked the car but everyone else's was soooo clean I was embarrassed at the state of mine!

I agree SAU is a friendly club but its hard to know new members by face etc so you do have to make an effort to introduce yourself around if your new... I've been hanging around for a few years and there are still lots of people I haven't spoken to or don't know their names but that's just through laziness more than anything else

lastly I was only there about an hour and managed to burn my head... going bald in your twenties FTL! ... stupid thing was I still had the sombrero from Tacos in the boot hehe

Ive been around since before the start and i still get confused with who is who :sorcerer:

Its just too hard now there are a couple of hundred members compared to when there was 50!

I generally try my best to come around and say a g'day to people when i can... altohugh that said i was only there for 45-50mins i think on Sat so i didnt really get around to saying g'day to half the people there.

Now where be my FREEBIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyone else with some more piccies?

spewin i missed the Nur, is there another one floating around with possibly gold/silver lip BBS rims? I was having dinner at Bombay by Night on North rd (killer indian restaurant) and just happened to be looking out the window the same time a millenium jade 34 GTR drove past, and from the blur of the wheels, looked like gold/silver lip rims.

Congrats to all the winners and a big thanks to the Commity for putting on a great day. Was great to catch up with some of you and I also got a chance to meet a few more members for the first time, which is always cool.

I got a few pics from the day, i'll try and post them up later.

This is one of the first events I've actually ever been to - even though i've been a part of the club for 3 years!!

I didn't find it hard to meet the boys and girls - I've known some for a long time through meeting them on and off, but everyone is very friendly...

I mostly know people from the forums, but it is nice to put faces to names - no offence but I'll probably forget names (I'm just shocking).

Was a most enjoyable day!

Perfect example - i'd never met Ronin before, but he came up and introduced himself and we had a good chat. Gotta remember most people are probably as shy as you. If you did walk up to a group and tried to join in the convo and were ridiculed/abused (which would never happen) then you would defiantly have something to complain about.

I always find a good conversation stater at these events is "so which one is your car"... ask questions about what they've done, how long they've had it, if they've been to these events before, do they know anyone else here etc.... and usually you'll get the same questions back :bunny:

Spewing i couldn't come earlier and have my car on display.. but by the time i came at 2pm-ish there were only like 10 cars and voting was well and truly over  .

Its good to see SAU vic holding events of this organisation/calibre.

Oh and KAZ i was gonna come and say hi but i was abit shy and didn't want to intrude so i kept to myself. But hopefully next time i'll get my act together and meet some of you guys in the flesh. :D

Hey Marcus, great pics, and your GTR was AWSOME!

The only reason you know anyone is that you have bought and sold so much to all of us!

Congrats to all the winners, and also great job done once again by the committee members, inc the great BBQ from Min & Chris.

I also would like to thank anyone that voted for my car enabling the old girl to take a trophy at last! (After all, it was in HPI last Month!)

Also would like to say sorry to anyone that I did not go out of my way to talk to, and hope to overcome my shyness soon.

Keep forgetting how old I am, and I dont have to give a damn anymore what anyone thinks of me not acting my age!

That "Name" & "Forum Name" ID badge for Club Meetings may be a good thing, but not sure about out on activities where you could feel more selfconscious of it.

Maybe a PROPER ID photo with actual person with Forum/First Name and Skyline (No Plate) in the Members Only area may be a good idea so we can all remember names/faces??

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
