Hey all,

Im in the middle of selling my skyline and my corvette. ( see for sale section :P )

With the skyline money im hoping to add to my house deposit money. But with the sale of my corvette im not going to go lower than $27500.... And thats what ill be spending on my new car...

Have weighed up some options and so far ive come up with these 5... In order of what im thinking of...

1. GTR 33

2. EVO 7

3. STI WRX

4. 3000 GT (hard to come by i know.)

5. GTR 32

Ive loved my series 2 r33 skyline so im defiantly still after a turbo car.

Im after quicks and handeling so a 4wd i think is the way to go...

Im looking for a car that can handle the 300kws easily without and worries of blowing the engine as i would have done in my gtst.

Looking to make a scary quick road car is what im after and that can handle the turns also...

and looks aint that important to me also...

What would you choose? Have i missed any cars i should take into consideration?? anyone driven any of the above cars? Impressions etc etc...

The 3000gt will get you to that power the easiest and cheapest, but that car is a pig, at just under 4000 pounds I would look elsewhere.

The Evo and the Sti are both great but I'm not a fan of fulltime 4wd, as well the sti has trouble keeping transfer cases at those power levels.

I mean your on a skyline board and I am a little biased, but to me the choice is either R32 or R33 GTR, the 33 being newer, but a little heavier.

You could debate all you want about which model R32,R33,R34 is best but in the end preference and budget come into play.

Good luck on which ever you choose. :P

haha i was expecting some biased ideas for sure lol!

wow i didnt relise the 3000 was so bulky! damn!

i reali am leaning towards the 33gtr cos of how new it is or the evo....

have to take them both for a spin i guess

Id go the R33 GTR..

I had a mint GTO with 272 awkw and I loved it, it was a monster on the street but I sold it as it is not a very practical car and was quite expensive to maintain and wont take the punishment that the GTR would.

ahh cool thanks for that info...

any one had or driven an evo 7?

I've owned an Evo 8 MR and a R33 GTR.

Evo is very fast but the GTR is much more fun to drive whilst still being fast, and shitloads easier to get power out of it.. esp if you want a quick straight line car. Have a read of this thread, as I did a big reply about Evo vs GTR... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ev...tr-t190951.html

Lol... 3000gt cheap... maybe in Toronto... Over here there's buckley's chance of tuning a 3000gt cheap. 33 GTR all the way. Cheap as chips and everyone's got parts for them.

From your descriptions of what you want there's two options

32 GTR Vspec or 33 GTR (either vspec or not)

Pick which one you like the look of.

After that start replacing everything. Both are at the age where modding the engine too much may blow it. Get a new engine and certainly new turbo's.

Get new suspension, either car is 10+years old and will be a bit saggy.

Probably need new front disks

New clutch.

Get this thing http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Gt...40&start=40. It makes such a difference.

300awkw and 2L don't go too well IMO.

Yes it can be done but it's asking a fair bit of the old EVO.

and it kinda defeats the purpose of the EVO too..

if you want that sort of power, stick to the GTR's.

If I were you, I'd be buying a REBUILT R32 GTR with all the fruit required for 300 jiggawatts that you are after.

I don't think that the R33 GTR with a rebuilt engine and the required turbos and mods for 300kw are under $30K yet.

R32's are.

for $27K that you have, you'd find one that has been well sorted and all the usual 15 year old faults fixed.

If you want big power and fast numbers, a GTR is easier (esp power). It handles having that much power really nicely, and is still daily driveable etc.

If you want to go to a circuit and decimate all (mainly a tight circuit like Wakefield), the Evo is perfect... but it'll struggle to handle the 300kw you want. It'll take a rebuilt motor to get there, whereas an RB26 can do it stock. Let alone the driveline issues you might run into on the Evo...

i just want a car to have great accelaeration ( cant spell!)

handle more than excellent...

and just feel fast!

Both those cars will do it.

TommO - how much did the EV0 weigh?

I think your whale weighs around 1550kg yeah?

Evo was 1470... and yeah I think that's about right for my whale :D

Not really that much in the scheme of things.. R33 feels a lot "firmer" when cruising around though, the Evo just wants to go fast and nothing else...

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
