dun think the general public would be bothered cruisin a week after another club's cruise...

then again, that's what MCCR is there for, an open any car cruise club. I reckon we'd be wanting the attention of skyliners, but then again anyone's open to come with us /me points at Horus. Soo I don't really think that we'd be in competition with MCCR.

But yeah, if we don't organise sumfin it'll make us look i dunno... sorta unorganised?

MCCR are no competition as such.

with all the bad publicity they've been getting lately i dont think a lot will wanna be associated with it.

there will be the usual fools.

But the majority of people aint that silly. Plus being a Sky specific club gives us the skyline edge... not that other cars aren't welcome as you said funkey!

Yeah I think that a cruise should be organise.

Maybe SAU can have some flyers or something at the stand during MAS. . That will attract some skyliners and new members to SAU. Something like SKYLINE BIG DAY OUT!! hehe

A country cruise is a good idea. What about a cruise up to Lake Eildon (Eildon)?? Is that too far?? You get to go through the Black Spur and it's a pretty good drive. Takes about 2hrs it think.

Black Spur is a good drive..

Could drive to Marysville, have lunch/bbq there.. and then back again - that would be a good day out..

Up to the grampians.. around there, and back - although i think that is lot of flat highway driving.

Lysterfield, mount dandenong, then back..

Further suggestions??

SUGGESTION:

dont go on a route that is known for hard driving.

last thing you need is a new Sky with a driver you don't know on a cruise... They push it in front of you, loose it and then take you out and wohever else is around.

I don't mind going up a Mt dandy or something with the usual boys as i know how they all drive and thier sensibilty levels.

Just my thoughts that's all.

That's true R31

Either one would be a good cruise.

It will be my first cruise with you guys does that mean I can't come?? haha

I used to live up that way (Maryville) so I know the road ok. The drive is not that hard, just the Black Spur, then it is pretty flat after that. I think it is easier than Mt Dan in some ways.

Lets organise something real soon..

MAS is only 3 days away!!

Cheers

Maybe.. but that could happen anywhere - if a person can't drive they can't drive. i *suppose* (bored yawn) its something to take into consideration.

driving hard around mountainous areas and blind corners is a little different to straight/light suburb style cruises.... that's what i think. Not saying everyone else has to have the same view.

Big meet and long cruise, but not up places like that, if it's damp then that makes it worse.

I don't trust peoples driving that i dont know. Espcially if they got a bit of power behind them you can get in trouble very quickly.

Will your car be back on road in time for a cruise Predator??

Depends.. pulled my wheel of yesterday, and found out my tie rod is bent like a banana. I've either got to pull it off and straighten it, or track down a new one and install it.. Depends whether the person who hit me insurance covers it properly..so might be a while :)

no where near as crowded.

plus remember it's school holidays no MORE!

so all the surf coast towns are dead again :)

Maybe in 3-4 weeks?

mid/late august... that way it might be a 'bit' warmer?

i dunno. we had a good turn out last time.

yeah i agree.... i think every1 will need a lil break after the MAS, and that timeframe would prob be really good and hopefully a lil warmer :)

just dont make it on the 15th-17th of aug though hhehe i'll be at falls creek (bit of a contridiction there oh well heheh).

maybe the week 9th or the 10th... therefore its not to long after the MAS.. bit gives time for abit of recovery :)...

what does every1 think?

mark

Let's make it the 9th. Would be good to relax for a day after the cruise before going back to work. Give time to wash car haha.

But than again maybe some people will still have some alcohol left in their body from Friday night. . hehe.

Yeah let's do it. Still have like 3 weeks to plan for it and let everyone know about it. But is there a BBQ area in Apollo Bay?? I can't remember last time I went down that way. But I guess there is aways some sort of BBQ somewhere there. Just make a late DETOUR!!

    • oh they were with that motor, you need to remove the engine to change the spark plugs (don't have to, but it does make it easier)
    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
    • It says 300ZX, does that make it an Aus delivered car? Funny how back in the day I just couldn't care less about Z32's and these days I am just in love with them. Back when Nissan was into pushing the envelope. 🤣
