Alright lads, just hear me out ok?

I'm from Perth. I was born there. But, I've been (and will continue to) living in Japan for the last 3 1/2 years. My wife is Japanese, and outside my apartment I see Skyline, after Supra, after Integra, after RX-8, after R35 2-door ALL with GT-wings, stickers, loud "can" exhausts, and flashing blue and red lights inside.

Now, how does that compare with "Rice"?

No kidding, before I came to Japan, I'm sure that phrase hadn't even been invented. The first I'd heard of it was in this forum!

So, does that mean everybody back home hates modifying the exterior of their cars now? Like in order not to look like "Rice"?

i remember 3 years ago this 'rice' phrase originated in the US.....mainly used to describe honda owners who hot up their rides...sometimes to a ridiculous extent(ie.something that has no performance value, yet looks like it):D

today however it's so blurred as to what is really rice or not.

these days you can't post a BOV question without someone telling you you "it's for ricers only"

can't post a GT-wing question without people telling you "it looks gay"

can't post a FMIC question without people telling you "you don't need it"

And post something regarding neon lights? You'll be like walking in a forest fire drenced in kerosene:rolleyes:

i personally don't have facist attitude against 'rice'.it's all subjective from person to person.

That race car is Attkd's R34... oddly not as fast as their R32.

Back on topic though, does this mean that what goes on in Japan (styling wise) is not considered cool by the majority of people anymore?

Honestly, who gives a s*#@ what other people think - if your car is riced up or not, it's your car and do whatever u want with it - i personally don't care what other people think. The only time i've found when people have a go at you is when they don't own one of our magnificant skylines, but drive some s*^#box car that's worth like $1000 bucks and is barely roadworthy - it just comes down to jealously at the end of the day - they want what they don't have, and cause they can't have it they bag the person who owns it labelling it "rice" - i'm putting neons on the car both inside and out - i'll most likely put some stickers (small ones) on the car, i've already all painted my interior bits, and i have a duel A-pillar guage but do i care what other people think... NO!! this is how i wanted MY car to be, so i did it!!!

just my 2 cents :D

Thenks for the input guy's, I'm glad that people still stand up for what they want... for a moment there I thought it was the end of Japanese style.

Anyways, all this interest from me is because I'm setting up a "side" operation, to bring into Perth (only!) all the DIFFICULT, REALLY INTERESTING, hard to get parts, all genuine, ALL NEW and I'll be buying them at cost, so that will probs mean a cheaper price for you Japanese car freaks in Perth!

Still in the early stages at th' mo though...

Alright lads, tell me a price in Perth for a paticular part/item, and I'll do my utmost to beat it... where possible/ it's not friggin stupid to do so. (edit - :D )

You heard it here first... coz Skylines are my one and only (well, along with the wife!!!) love since Bathurst '91, and more than anything I want to promote Australian/Japanese motorsport culture, information, and Knowhow.

I know about the competition present in Perth, thanks Rob77 for bringing that up, but just remember guy's I'm not just in this for the financial benefit, but more to make my wife realize how much a good place Australia is, through the support of the Perth and Interstate Japanese import massive.

I've got some VERY good contacts in Japan and in Oz, so this is gearing up to be something special, if you guy's can support!

    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow

    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
