Usa Model Pioneer Avic

I've got the chance to get a Pioneer AVIC from the US, with DVD player, GPS etc.

Will this work here?

Can I get the Aussie maps for the Pioneer, and are the regional codes changeable?

As far as I know buddy it can not be done. You will be able to use the CD/MP3 functionality, probably not the DVD (region specific) and definately not the GPS.

The price of similar units here are $2500 where as you can get the US models for around $700 shipped.

correct. the HD3 here is hard drive based - there is no cd for it. the AVIC you are thinking of is CD based. it is also locked to region 1.
