Drive line loss is going to be greater in the GT-R and the power weight ratio would come into play but its hard to quantify as the AWD has such an advantage of the line especially in street trim-check out the drag times, specifically the 60 footers. I'm sure someone will have a go at this one but if I had a GTST and wanted to keep up with a GT-R I'd get Roy to drive it. See the youtube videos for driving tips.

I did the double in my 32 GTS4 (RB20DET). It had 145 rwkw and 115 awkw.

Using that as a comparison, I'm guessing that a 230 awkw GT-R would have something approaching 300 rwkw.

did you do the 'double' on the same dyno? ie drop driveshaft after awd run and test again on same dyno, same settings etc

just that, in general, there ISNT that much of a drop between rwd and awd.

somewhere between 5 and 10% difference is more like it, taking into account drivetrain loss

other people to test back to back have found results more like 220rwk to 205awkw

In my mind, a 230awkw gtr would put out around 250rwkw with the front driveshaft dropped

The question asked is so impossible to answer it makes this thread pointless.

Every set up is different, power delivery, traction and so on.

As for awkw - rwkw, bugger all difference. People have tested it here before, nothing major to note down as a GTR isnt full time 4WD

so if my gtr is 300kws at the rears you would say it would be near enough 300kws all round?

Actually this could be guite a good thread if some decent information comes up.

I'm sure i'm not the only gtst driver that is thinkin bout the R upgrade, but is not 100%

its a hard choice after dropping 15k odd in mods and having an awesome street car...

*returns after some very BASIC maths type stuff*

ok so on a strictly power to weight ratio...

a 230awkw 33 gtr is around 250rwkw and weighs around 1.55ton which gives it a power to weight of 161kw/ton

to match this power ratio a 33 gtst weighing around 1.35 ton will need only 220rwkw to make 162kw/ton

this of course does not include any of the factors that make gtr's superior cars... Just power to weight

I have just made that decision... had a 33 gtst and added up all the things i wanted to do to it etc and it ran nearly to 9000 so instead sold the 33 for 18000 just the other day and have saved the 9000 so looking now for a gtr 33 for around 30000....

GTR badge reali draws me!! lol

Power to weight has ALOT to do with it, but then again so does torque (specifically for straight line race). Its simple maths really when neglecting things like traction, driver differences, and other similar factors. But then torque comes into it, but there isnt realy a way to factor this in fairly. Fact be it tho, torque generally will help immensely in a striaght line.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
