yeah that's the key, having a measure so you can always push to get faster, make a game out of it

I'm not built for jogging... sprinting yes... long distance... ahhh no... maybe if I lost about 10kg!

yeah fairly solid... I never fit into shirts unless they're custom made, my neck is a full size bigger than the rest of me so I can never get the button done up lol... and I have relatively short arms... my bro in law who trains with me calls me T Rex... he reckons that's why I can lift more cos I don't have to move it as far lol

nice Dezz, haven't heard of them but that doesn't mean much... heaps of respect for footy players and the fitness/toughness you need

I hate long distance myself. Should have mentioned my run is only 3km, so near enough to being considered a sprint. I don't know how people can do marathons and run for hours nonstop - now that's some boring shit! I did the Puffing Billy race once (13.2km) and that felt like I was running for friggen ever.

What measures are you taking at the moment to try and lose the weight?

It's amazing the fitness required for footy, particularly in a defender role. Even in amateur football, it makes you appreciate the fitness level of AFL players all the more.

I guess this is the place where I can announce that a few months ago (after being made redundant at my desk job of 11 years) I decided to pursue that dream of mine to be a Master Trainer.

I'm 175cm, 80kg, been into sport all my life, weight training, and (more specifically) karate for the past 20 years. I've been overseas for tournaments, trained so hard I've puked, and coached plenty of friends with their fights. Been there, done that basically ... and now ready to share what I've learn. Whether you want to lose weight, gain strength, endurance, or improve your athletic competitiveness.

I've been personal training others for years, but now I've stepped things up a notch to become a Master Trainer/Self Defence Trainer. I've already done a group class ... a bit like body combat, but with REAL techniques and using the body's dynamics for a high intensity workout. But I do cover aerobic fitness as well as strength training also.

Look up "Roo Fitness" on facebook if you'd like to know more. Or hit me with a PM if you'd like some help in fitness.

trying not to be a fat shit... lol

nah I'm pretty good actually... I play basketball Mon (sometimes 2 games), heavy weight session Tue, medium weight session/body weight excercises Thu and circuit training Sat morning (similar to crossfit)

my diet during the week is pretty good... special high protein low sugar cereal in the morning, a boiled egg/banana mid morning, chicken salad or equiv for lunch, baked beans or nuts or boiled egg mid arvo, a nice hearty meal of meat 'n' veggies or stir fry for dinner and a glass of milk sometimes with milo before bed

I avoid bread, potatoes, pasta etc and juices/softdrink

then Fri night I usually cheat and eat some takeaway... sometimes reasonably healthy chinese but sometimes pizza... then we usually end up eating out at some point over the weekend where I'll cheat a bit too... throw in a few beers or G&T's here and there over the weekend as well... and if I've gone out for someones birthday or an event... well... I probably got on the piss pretty bad and undid all the hard work lol

here's something 'fun' to try, I've been doing the 3 minute push up challenge... basically you do as many push ups in 3 minutes as you can with strict form (no cheating!)... you can rest as much as you like but the clock doesn't stop... I set a new PB last night at 95... but the last 5 might have been a bit dodgy lol... I did sets of 20, 20, 15, 15, 10, 10, 5

K2 Moto? I have Extremes...they were pricey but very good. Wheels are HUGE.

They're k2 Camano. Pretty much brand new condition. Not sure what the 2nd hand price for this kinda gear should be since there's nothing on eBay that I could find, but he said he'd do $100 and throw in his knee/elbow/wrist pads too. Seems like a good deal when he allegedly paid ~$300 for the gear in the first place, regardless of age.

Thoughts?

skim milk... supposed to help keep your metabolism running while your asleep... I dunno, I've only started doing it over the last few months and I'm still slowly losing fat... its hard to judge because you put on muscle and lose fat and stay a similar weight... I really need one of those skin fold testers

I just need to keep it consistent... its always something... easter was not good... my wife brought home a whole bunch of greek cakes and chocolate and I tried my best to stay away... but I'm weak when the temptation is sitting on the table

Might try that one. Have you done the 50kg bench press until failure challenge? Haven't attempted for a couple of years, but iirc it was 45 reps before I died in the ass. You end up very tensed up afterwards!

How good is nandos.

Gym food.

Just avoid the chips.

Nandos is fan-friggen-tastic. And I can't avoid the chips, they taste to damn good, with or without peri salt.

They'll be fine for recreation man. Can get blades very cheap second hand...and they'll usually be in very good condition. People have a habit of buying expensive rollerblades and using them like once or twice. My Extremes were about $600 brand new...waste of money given I've used them 3 or 4 times. Hope to get back into it soon though, it's awesome exercise for the legs.

I've never tried the 50kg bench press to failure thing before.

I'm going to try it this weekend sometime me thinks.

Try 100 reps of 60kg squats= death. You literally collapse. Literally. Never again.

I am sort of a cross between ecto and mesomorph (more towards ecto though :()

Worked my arse off for 8 of the past 10 years and played heaps of basketball (though not overly gifted)

Anyway, sitting at 95kg atm, plan to get my strength back up and trim a little weight to get back down to 90-91kg.

Trying something much less consuming than I used to do but should see some decent results.

Wed/Fri/Sun

am - Legs/Chest/Back

pm - Shoulders/arms

(starting at 4 sets per bodypart - +2 sets for shoulders - and will increase periodically. 6-7 reps not quite failure)

all other days, 3-4mins of high intensity explosive "cardio" (30secs/30sec rest/30secs etc) in the morning and evenings.

Need to take body measurements tomorrow morning.

hmm, dunno why I posted this (maybe for a little motivation?).

troy, get the skates, fkn awesome price

i bought valo jj1's last year thinking i'd get back into aggressive skating.... did NOT happen. not I'm looking for replacement frames that'll fit 80mm wheels so i can use them for rec skating :)

yep, done. They're sitting on my side of the bay at work now. That means I own them. lol

Haven't bladed in MANY MANY years. Like around 7 I'd guess. Gonna be sketchy as.

Wahahaha the first time I put on skates in years, I was shaky as all f**k. Give it a couple of sessions and it all comes back to you though. It's probably easier with small wheels...I have 100mm - they look like friggen scooter wheels!

Yeah I remember it being absolutely awesome on the legs, can't wait to give them a real go tomorrow

$600 though?! holy jesus I didn't think you could get them that expensive!!!

Yeah. Turns out that isn't all that expensive lol. I was bragging to my auntie about how expensive my blades were...her 12 year old son (my cousin) ice skates competitively and they bought him $1200 rollerblades. See my avatar for my reaction face.

do you rest or try and smash 100 without racking the bar?

going to try the 50kg bench til failure next week

Both of you post up how you go, would be interested to know. Might give it another shot myself. Don't know if it's a good or bad thing to do regularly, I was only doing it for kicks in a mate's backyard gym...but honestly...in some ways it felt like a better workout than doing 10 reps of 95kg. Probably because I did it until death, unlike a regular set, which I do to 10 no matter what. One things for sure, the normal 95kg sets make 50kg feel friggen light.

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
