especially as I've seen programs that get very specific, 77% 83% or whatever

What the hell kind of programs would tell you to work at 77% or 83% of your 1RM.. this is a great example of powerlifting/bodybuilding bro-science at it's finest. Your body isn't going to adapt to an exact percentage. You might as well work off of 80% because that extra 3% either way won't make a noticeable difference in strength or size gains.

For me, crafting the body into something most desirable for the opposite sex, is where it's at ;)

hahaha I guess I'm different due to being married... but for me it's about being allowed to keep my man card... I'm a graphic designer which apparently means I have to weigh 60kg, wear thick rimmed glasses, girls jeans and be into bicycles... fck that, after spending all day discussing the differences between 2 almost identical fonts and drinking macchiatos I like to go to the gym and do badass shit... I'm no PL but I like to lift heavy... nothing better than chucking serious weight on an Oly bar, sitting it on the ground then lifting it above your head

I was doing dips yesterday with a couple of the 24kg kettlebells hanging off a belt looking like a couple of giant black balls swinging between my legs... I felt pretty baws for a few minutes lol

its funny when I meet someone for the first time they pretty much always assume I'm a tradie.... until I show them my girly hands lol

On lean gains he reckons for an intermediate lifter

1.6 x bw - squat

1.2 x bw - bench

2 x bw - deadlift

This is a good starting point, a minimum if your serious

just gotta sort out my squats :S... stupid weak legs

i like to read the Scivation Books stuff. Currently working on their Tri Phase routine (slightly modified but I will more then likely go back to the original).

They have books on just about everything that is training.

I like to read this site called

www.itsnotrocketscience.com

Listen to your body, train what works best for you

This lol. Too many people looking for the easiest/fastest way to gain the most amount of muscle in as little time as possible, which kind of works contrary to what is actually required at the gym - a f**kload of effort to get what you want.

its not so much looking for the fastest way to achieve results, well not for me anyway. I learnt years ago there is no fast way.

I read this stuff because I find it remotely interesting. I also dont think that I am perfect so I like to see and hear other people's opinion on a range of subjects. There are always better ways of doing things, its just a matter of hearing them out and deciding if you agree or not.

My 2cents.

Without artificial assistance you mean Mitch? Seem to see a whole bunch of huge teenage blokes in the gyms these days, partly they're starting at an age where their T is at a peak, but mostly a whole lot of them would be on the gear.

Interesting article in the SMH not long ago; not really 'news' , but interesting nonetheless - the 'steroid vacation' to Thailand: http://www.smh.com.a...0526-1zblt.html

    • Hi guys, long time no post as per usual! It's been a busy year so far, the biggest thing being a new job.  After 28 years in the automotive industry I decided it was time for a change.  I was losing faith in the industry and where it's heading.  Now in a completely different industry (electrical) working for a company that manufacture water pump contollers.  Not as sexy as cars but it's an interesting,  challenging industry. I now don't work Saturdays which is a bonus!  It's still 50-55 hours a week but having Saturdays ack after 28 years of working them is awesome!   No news on the GT-R but i did decide to add some more JDM goodness into my life....           1990 300 ZX.  She's not perfect but for a 35 year old car she ain't bad!  Just going to tidy it up a bit and enjoy it.  It's currently auto but will start stockpiling everything for a manual swap. It WILL distract me even further from the GT-R but im hoping not for too long! It somewhat proves a 6'8" freak can fit in a 300 ZX.  Sort of...  I drove it home from the previous owners house in Melbourne via Black Spur and Merton Gap (2 awesome bits of Victorian twisty road) and it was amazing!  Handles so well!!!   I don't think it would be worthy of a full build page but I'll post up some of the upgrades here if anyone is interested?  Cheers guys!
    • End game is to: - Remove all the slop from old worn parts - Adjust setup so that the wheels actually fit and the car is drivable (currently it is not because of the extreme rubbing on the guards).   Progress over the last couple of days, removed the rear hubs! Next steps: - Buy bushings - Replace bushings/bearings on hub - Reinstall
    • Cracked deck  And other cam snap stuff
    • A few random issues have popped up since my last update. My WMI pressure sensor failed within about 10 minutes of it seeing liquid. It was a 20$ China special, so I'm not surprised. My name brand replacement should arrive today.  My power steering assist also decided to crap out last weekend. The usual, works for about 60 seconds after starting the car then I lose it. I dusted off my old copy of NDS and connected to the HICAS ECU. Code 4 for assist solenoid.... I tested the solenoid and it's fine.  I knew the day where my HICAS ecu would crap out would come, and I welcome it. It was the last HICAS part on the car that is now in the bin. I've ordered an SSR and I will control the power steering solenoid with my Haltech ecu. It will be nice to have proper speed referenced assist again after all these years.
