3 big macs are well short of 2000 calories, its 1479 calories

I've had 3 double quarters and chips, thats 3011 calories......and a diet coke lol

I've actually had that a few times

lol just order pounders. They come in see through wrapping (read: dripping with grease). Had to stop half way through one for a toilet break.

On a serious note, I know fk all about diet and nutrition...is it actually good to use a lot of fast food as a source of workout fuel and/or muscle building (assuming you don't care about body fat)? Everything I've heard says to eat fast food in moderation, but I do acknowledge this is probably for the average person who doesn't exercise. I know it's got quite a bit of protein and carbs/energy in it, but do the saturated fats pose a bit of a threat to arteries etc? Somebody school me :)

Related: lastnight had a fair wad of unhealthy food (more than normal) and snacked on chocolate today. Blasted through my gym session in record time and pushed out more reps on bench than normal - extra calories helping out, I assume?

In other news, I must retract the statement about my gym. They are putting in 3 power racks, so we now have 5 :D

If only they would do that at my gym! I've even just recently got told to not bang the weights as loud, whilst doing deads.

whole grains and unprocessed foods are better for you apparently. But If youre hitting your macro targets, getting the results you want, doesn't matter.

I don't see the saturated fat from eating some fast food as a risk. It would depend on your overall diet. I generally don't accept the concept of "high cholestrol", I think the ratio of HPL to LDL is more interesting as per the discussions in the Smarter Science of Slim / Johnathon Bailor and others. Here's one random one about saturated fat http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2002/08/17/saturated-fat1.aspx

Also I'd be looking at your pre-workout (and maybe post-workout) nutrition if you want to improve your gym sessions.

If the person cares about their health/appearance they probably don't want to eat large amounts of the wrong kind of fast food(s) :). And irrelevant of the exercise, if they eat the wrong kind of foods it's going to end up in weight gain.

If your naturally skinny then I don't see it as a big deal to eat fast food, you can obviously do better with your own cooking / non-fast food.

If your near Highett in Melb Burger Boss are running a burger challenge at the moment... its got 6 patties I think, only one person has finished it so far

eating fast food is no different to eating out at a nice restuarant when it comes to your health... a really interesting look at fast food by Penn and Teller and in their Bullshit series

that said if you have a gut and titties you should put the burger down fatty! lol

hehe i'm cutting, but I still eat a cheeky burger or two every now and then... It doesn't really matter for me. Calories in vs calories out is more important to think about for losing weight than a high protein/low-carb diet only.

It would seem most people think they can eat as much protein and healthy fats as they want when cutting (when hungry) as long as they don't eat any carb sources.

Yeah it's a joke what a lot of people are led to believe! The only way to lose fat is cal in vs cal out.

Correct nutrition will aid in maintaining strength and muscle mass whilst in a deficit though

I think that while "fast food" isn't bad per se, its nastiness lies in calorie to serving size ratio. You're getting a whole heap of shit in such a small package that most of the time is far from filling.

Calories out v calories in is also flawed

Say you need 2000 calories a day to cut

If you were to eat 2000 calories worth of Tim Tams right before bed, you would end up skinny fat, all your muscle would be gone from being in negative nitrogen blance for 23 hours a day and all those Tim Tam calories will be stored as fat

Just sayin

That's why I said cals in vs out is more important than a diet that is high protein low carb only.

As in, a combination of the both will produce the greatest results (should have worded it better).

Depleting carbs only, just cuts down your water and glucogen stores, so this sort of diet leads to quick weight gain once you switch back to a balanced diet (hence "carbing up" making the body appear fuller).

Need to learn how to stealth photo, would have had a great example of how not to deadlift...

Kid standing with his legs real close together; feet pointed IN on 45 degrees, like making a triangle; knees locked out completely straight; bending his body over in a perfect U shape...to pick up 70kg 3 or 4 times...and when he did, his body twisted and turned all over the place. It was worst deadlift I've ever seen, period. His mate comes up to him and complains about his own buggered back with a dislodged disc or something...

Fuck I wanted to...probably should have. I can never bring myself to give other people advice at the gym though, cause I know how annoying it is when someone is trying to tell you how you should be doing things. They might not have minded being total noobs.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
