You should offer him advice

Nah man, would rather gossip about him online for lulz and leave him to it haha.

I'm sure there's a reason for it, even if it's just because he thinks it's cool and he's just being wanky. Either way he was a nice guy and complimented my efforts on bench press, so he can do his thing.

Just f**ks with my head.

dam TTT beat me to it.

In seriousness though, I have done bench, military and a few other lifts with the belt on (because I couldnt be bothered to take it off after squats and carry it around) but my lifts were pretty good with it. Felt stable and a little stronger. But that could come down to a number of different factors, diet for example could have been real good.

Just saying.

we got these kids that come to my gym, they are about 50-60kg only real young. Worst form of concentration curls I have ever seen. Really throw their whole weight into it and sling their entire arm. It really is funny. Tried to help them out and tell them they are doing it wrong, go lighter the response i got was a beaut "what would you know?"

As many in here will attest - no matter how badly someone is doing something, don't bother giving advice unless they ask for it. If you really want to, as Birds has suggested go up to them and open with something along the lines of "Hi, how open are you to criticism?"

Italics = sarcasm.

People do wear belts for bench and over head press.

I find it helps for OHP but I can't use it while I bench.... well I can, but it doesn't help and makes it alot more uncomfortable.

-FIGJAM- aren't you the "66kg Monster" - why on earth did you try to give advice?

If I was that kid curling like a dickhead and you suggested I do it another way I'd have given you the same response.

Honestly, advice given in a regular gym without being asked is f**king annoying..

Especially from someone who doesn't look like they've ever lifted a weight in their life.

go youtube searching for footballers training sessions and see how they curl...

then film yourself giving them advice on form.

post here.

Yeah I know it was sarcasm :P

I wouldn't really question someone wearing a belt if they were lifting heavy, even if I thought it was pointless. He was doing SEATED preachers using ezcurl bar +10kg on each side, and seated military in the smith with 15kg on each side.

Anyway, next topic

He should squat

So why does your back still hurt? :P

I see young guys come in all the time and exactly the same, they start curling with the worst techniques; lifting shoulders, throwing their backs, moving elbows etc I want to say something to them but not to fix their technique... more rather to stop curling and stick to the basics for a while, bench, lat pull downs, uprights, deads (although daunting for newbies) and yes squats! I reckon that's the BEST advice you can give them, fark trying to tell them how to curl!!!!

I wouldn't call either of those heavy, but maybe he was trying to limit the involvement of his back in the curls or something? Seated ohp, I can sort of understand.

It was actually Nick who suggested that from memory :)

That's what I was thinking, very low weights for a belt unless he has an injury, which the way he moves etc suggests is not the case. Meh.

Are for gays... Glad we got that over an done with

This :P

Because I had to take some time off from Squats.

It's getting better now that I'm back to squatting though..

Next topic..

Bali singlets for curling in

Bali singlets? Is that a style, or do you just mean Bintang singlets? lol

It was actually Nick who suggested that from memory :)

Ah ok, in any case holds true

singlets that only cover nipples / reach down past your waist always make me laugh

also guys that wear flat brim caps BACKWARDS (or...at all) in the gym...rofl. damn can't find the meme pic

There are 2 guys in my gym that dress EXACTLY like this (in fact, at least one of them wears the same stuff every day  They're the most self-obsessed egotistical twats I've ever met.

yes, and absolutely definition of douche too.

I get none of these tools at my gym

that's cos they're afraid TTT will lay a smackdown! I loved the reebok vids so much, nothing has made me laugh as much after them.

    • You're not wrong but 5W30 at 100C is like 10 cSt vs 25 cSt for 10W60. If we think in terms of viscosity margin 10W60 will probably still be ok at 130C but 5W30 is probably too little. It's absolutely shocking how hot the oil gets in something like a stock FL5 from only ~3 minutes of use on the Nordschleife. I would not risk taking a car like that to anything remotely intense without a ton of work done for cooling. Heat shielding on the manifold/turbo/downpipe, oil coolers, etc.
    • I think the concept is highlighting the various scenarios where thicker oil helps, and thicker oil potentially doesn't help and only generates heat and costs power, in turn for safety which isn't actually any safer (unless you're going real hot). If anything this does highlight why throwing Castrol 10w-60 for your track days is always a solid, safe bet.
    • Jason should have shown a real viscosity vs temp chart. All the grades have very little viscosity difference at full operating temperature.
    • Oops... I meant to include the connector  view... BR/W - power from fuse L/W - motor negative to fan control amp (and off to HVAC pin19) OR/B - PWM signal (from HVAC pin20) B --  ground
    • Yep, if you are applying filler it sounds like there is something wrong with the body lol. Safe to assume there is going to be a lot of sanding going on if your still applying fillers.  Picture a perfect bare metal panel, smooth as glass. You lay down your primer, it's perfect. (why are you going to sand it?) You lay down the colour and clear, it's perfect. No sanding at all took place and you've got a perfectly finished panel.  You won't be chasing your tail, sounds like you were prepping to start laying filler. If your happy with the body after the sanding, there is some bare metal exposed and some areas with primer, no issues at all, start laying the filler. You are safe to lay filler on bare metal or primer (of course check your technical data sheet as usual for what your filler is happy to adhere to).  This isn't a 100% correct statement. There is primer that is happy to adhere to smooth bare metal. There are fillers that are happy to adhere to smooth bare metal. Just make sure you're using the right materials for the job.  Typically if you are using filler, you would go primer, colour and clear. I've never seen any instances before where someone has laid colour over body filler (maybe this happens, but I haven't seen it before). So your plan sounds pretty normal to me.
