Hey guys,

I have been asked to book a Driver Training day on the skidpan at the AHG Facility in Kewdale for you Stagea Folk!!

The training is held in a controlled environment on a skidpan with instructors. We have paid for two instructors so everyone gets more time training (otherwise a lot of time is lost while the instructor changes cars). I am unsure who the instructors will be at the moment, however i have done several of these days and recommend any of thier instructors.

You will do a variety of motor kahna style challenges, which aim to teach things like handling of your vehicle and braking.

HELMETS ARE REQUIRED!!!!

When - Sunday 30th March 2008

Time - 12pm SHARP - 4.30pm. Driver briefing is at 12pm so BE ON TIME!!

Cost - $75 per driver

Where - AHG Driver Training Facility. Grogan Road Perth International Airport

Please note this is primarily a Stagea only event. Places will go to Stageas first and if there are any left after a week, non-Stagea drivers will be offered the remaining spots.

There are only 16 spots available so please PM me if you wish to participate (please give me your full full name aswell) and I will put you on the list, and send you my bank account details - as you will need to pay within 7 days to confirm your spot. (First in first served basis sorry) If you wish to pay me by cash, PM me and ill tell you where i can be found during the day.

Your name will NOT be added to the attendees list unless you PM me, this means I won't be taking names down from people just posting in the thread.

Driver/Vehicle requirements

Long Sleeve top, long pants required

Helmet

Fully enclosed foot wear

Drivers Licence

Car to be registered with no safety defects

Seatbelts

All loose items removed from inside the vehicle

Road legal tyres (no slicks)

Common sense and a sense of humour.

I will be organising plenty of soft drink, water and snack.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. As i work during the day i will normally respond to PM's regarding this in the evenings (job etc to do during the day >_< )so if you dont get an instant reply, dont panic.

Lets get started!!!!

Cheers

Dibs on the first non-stagea spot!!!!!

Also, is this a skid pan only event, or will we be able to have a crack at the track as well?

And Brad - Sif you have work to do during the day >_<

ssshonky, yeah $75 per driver. Its a Stagea yeah? PM sent.

The helmet rule was past about 12 months ago that any body in any vehicle on the skid pans or track must have have a helmet. Insurance politics! Same rule for everyone noadays ;)

Brad

should be fine. meets most of the requirements

im in with my stagea, i'd be pretty sure it should be going fine at that time, what happens if its not running for some reason? can i use my other car if u cant get anyone else with a stagea in? its a mitsubishi gto so its not a piece of shit haha. Would i get a refund if i couldnt take the stagea and u find someone else to fill the spot with a stagea?

PM sent in about 2 min from now :P

Brad, ive made the spot for you. Hopefully you will be in Stagea. If not, and there is someone with a stagea waiting, we will work out the payment side of things between us as i dont usually do refunds...but exceptions are made of course! Should be no problem. However, if Jippa has no problem with it, id say bring out the other car.....but Stagea would be better :P

Yeah Brad

can you please post up an agenda.... or a link to what this all entails.

I put up another post in the (now) defunct thread.

I may have the answer now..... a set of std tyres and rims for the skidpan, then being wet won't matter so much..... but if we are using the track then won't we want maximum traction.... I'm confused!

('sOK I'll run the old std tyres....it wont matter as the laps aren't being timed).

Thanks

PM me payment details please.....

Both Iolanda & I will be turning up..... and taking turns driving.

This event utilises a SINGLE SKID PAN only! NOT the track.

realy, i was under the impression we were. how or can we get a go on the track? this was the main reason i was interested but am still happy with skid pan

The second line of my first post in this thred states its the "skidpan" that we use.

I am unaware of any training course that uses the track. The only way i am aware you can use the track is enter into the sprint round, or make a tuning day which is 2 hours, for 16 people. Track time does get limited.

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
