i finally did it on saturday.

its good fun, you dont need to speed to enjoy it....just keeping the speed limit through corners was good enough.

it was very quiet for a saturday, most of the time was spent without a car in sight. Had a pie too. (hmm)

had to get get back onto the f3 at peats ridge, OP was closed.

cheers for the info.

p.s Liz - i'm just warming up!

The Old Pac between the Calga Interchange and Sommersby hasn't been re-opened since the giant hole that swallowed a family. They've still got barriers in the way, although you quite regularly see people driving / riding around them. And, of course, there are residents down there.

If you do decide to go on that section of road (and SAU of course doesn't condone you driving on road that have been closed off), be extra careful. Due to the lack of traffic, nothing is blowing the leaves / twigs / brances etc off the road so its really dicey.

  • 1 year later...

It might have been some time ago, I'm not sure. I was just testing out my new suspension; I hadn't been up there in a while.

Seemed as though it was mainly at the Cowan (South) end, but the surface also seemed better than I remember further up north too.

Edit: According to the RTA website they've just recently completed roadworks on this area from the Hawkesbury up to Kariong.

minus.gif Hawkesbury River interchange - Pacific Highway Road works Lanes closed: Both directions - 1 From: 8:30am on 31 August 2009 To: 3:30pm on 18 September 2009 RTA advice: Reduce speed, Exercise caution

"I'm pretty sure getting the air under the tyres would be somewhat difficult at the posted speed limit"

Yeah, i have seen a duke 675? launch it before... the way he overtook me, i wonder if he is still alive.

Anyway, he would have been pushing the speed limit to the extremes. :ninja:

No wonder the cops love that stretch of road...

Went down the a couple of weeks ago after not going for a while and Im loving the new smooth road!

Stage three is the pick of the lot! Awesome technical tight corners.. And uphill stage one..

But as said before.. just be carefull.. We all have seen or heard the stories..

i remember back in the days of first getting my licence of doing the old pac at least every week... in a 240 volvo, can anyone say bodyroll.

best fun i had on it was in my old MY00 WRX, it makes you understand why they sold so well.

the s14a was out of control in the corners, but more fun :)

I've lost count of the 3am runs on the Old Pac. :bunny:

Used to keep going till the sun came up.

When your heading south on the Old Pac and u hit the Berowa truck stop, the Bobbin Head run keeps the adrenaline going and then Thornleigh Maccas Via the Comenarra. :P

Bobbin Head is way too bumpy.

And I've heard the cops are still monitoring the Old Pac pretty heavily, although I haven't seen that and in the past few times I've been up.

I expect that, with summer coming on and the nights being warmer, we'll see more and more cruises going up at night...which in turn attract more and more cops.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
