Something like this looks good :teehee:

Actually its a real shame Nige pulled the Supra apart - that could have been a whole lot of fun.

Would be a nice choice Snowy, I was considering selling my car and buying that a few weeks ago... :(

From memory Nige's Supra got a 1:23.5 last time I saw it at Sandown.

Its a good starting package. :(

My car would be a good starting package. All it needs is an engine and a bit of development...i would happily sell it to someone that i knew was going to develop it and get the speed out of it. A 1:23.1 from a wheel locking POS with a std RB20, it has enough right parts to be respectably quick.

Hopefully we make Dutton and the old girl gets another go at Sandown with decent rubber

I thought he went quicker then that? If not then the little R32 was quicker, buyt im pretty sure it ran a 1:22 OR high 1:21

Sif you'll be sober enough.

Lol - That's exactly what I was going to say.

And he needs to keep his bad influences away from this years number one team.

I've already banned newton from VB long necks. Not that it seemed to slow him down any. I just feared for my cars structural integrity.

Nige definitley did a 1.21.7 on his 1st outting. (June 05). And that was with no previous track experience.

Nope, his first outing (i remember because my car had a date with a half inch drive on the crank the day before and i missed the Sudnay Track day) did a 1:25.82. I know because i remember being proud as punch that my first time at Sandown in the dry i went quicker with my 1:25.4 :)

LOL which was quicker then you at the same day Nige did the 1:25.82 . You did a 1:25.7 and Chris did a 1:25.6 or something. I remember this day because i was kicking myself over not being out there because i backed myself to be quicker then all of you. : :() But, its just another day of missed opportunities :D You guys are all better steerers these days :(

No way it did a 1:21.7 on its first outing. His first outing he cut an oil cooler line and it was a Maserati day in 2004. He may have went quicker at another day, but i only remember it being out there twice, and i only recall his best being the 1:23.5 that Dane speaks of. (could be wrong though...but dont think so because it was recognised as abotu the quickest rwd car and was what i held up as a benchmark)

Nige defintitely did a 1.21. I was there that day and remember it as a day of crazy cars as Frank, Benno and Sam were all there. And I beat Panozza and Jack. lol

Ok. That makes more sense. I suspected it had done a quicker time...but only recall it being out there twice.

Anyway, you are all gay. I did a 1:19 at Sandown back in 2004, before any of you. It was easy! I just sat in the passenger seat of Bens car :(

I remmeber that day as well, but for a very different reason :(

How quick was the STI compared to the GTR?

I had literally only got the engine back from a 2.2 Ltr race build so I'll never really know. I did a 24.9 that day, but it wasn't stretched. The GT-R has been faster at all tracks, even my standard spec was basically flatt 22's.

Be interesting there next time with new engine/suspension.

WOW!!

What a day. That was by far the most challenging day at Sandown I have ever had!!

I have never driven anything so scary in my life. Not scary as in violently fast in fact and extra 100kw would be nice, but scary as in the car was doing everything in its power to spit me off the track.

The set up is a little up the wah zoo to say the least and the brakes are past their limits.

Basically the car just wants to go sideways on every corner. Even the little kinks that you never even have to think about like the one coming on the front straight and the one at the start of the back straight. These little kinks make the car want to jump off the track. On top of that I had to brake so so early as late and hard braking would just lock the rears and make the car want to spin around.

The car also couldn’t get out of the corners without loosing traction. It didn’t matter how close I got to a car at the start of a corner everything pulled away on the exit until I got traction in a straight line, even std comos would pull away.

The results were consistent 1.22's which im pretty happy with. The car is now off to Race Pace for a full Benno setup overhaul.

Mark my words. This car will do a sub 1.20 once the brakes and set up are sorted.

Overall it was an awesome day and mechanically the car was excellent.

Big thanks to all that came down for a gander, lend a hand and annoy snowy with txt's lol.

Thanks Juzzy for all your help, you’re awesome xoxo.

He did do a 1.21 but it wasn't his first track outing....the first was the Maser sandown day in late 2004 that brisby was talking about.

I so hope so. No biggie if it doesnt, but would be great to see a nicely sorted GTSt doing the times that most ppl think impossible.

Will also be interesting to see how well Ben can get the car tied down. I know my car feels nice these days, but there are too many other tired parts in my suspension that let the car down :/

Maybe big red was just trying to tell you she was pissed you didn't take her sliding at calder on sat.......lol

it wants to slide.......let it slide......come to the dark side! lol

LOL! I didnt realise Chris showed up!

Was talking to the CEO today who said the Perkins car came off at the end and suffered some panel damage while trying to avoid another car that lost control. The Perkins was hammering all day, a lot of respect from me for the speed that thing was hammering around at.

and...........

Funniest quote of the year so far, Norton as if you have ever intended to come out of a corner in any car with traction! I have seen you in a 4x4, Lil Blue, Big Red, Chris' GTR to name a few and none have come out of a corner with traction :)

    • http://calfinn.com.au/product/1500kg-standard-trolley-jack-cj-2t-c/1500kg-standard-trolley-jack-cj-2t-c   I have this and fits under a S3 33 GTR with no issues. Purchased in 2009 and not one issue. It was $950 back then. Not cheap but something so important isn’t worth cheaping out on.
    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
    • Perhaps the answer is... more jacks!* *proper jacks must be used.
