wrxkilla
Hi All, What compound Re55s have you used? I am about to order a set for the GTR to hopefully last the QR Timeattack season. I assume Hard is the go? ANy experiences with different compounds would be great to hear? Any help appreciated. Michael TT = Medium Soft WT = Soft SR = Hard Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/202739-re55s-tire-compounds/ Share on other sites
ferni
For sprints we use SR's. The GTR is to heavy for the softer compounds unless it's for really short runs. Since they have come in they haven't even been selling the old SR's (well not down here anyways). Beer Baron
i didn't say I had never seen them. I said I hardly ever see them. haven't bought a new set of tyres for a while now, but for a long time after SR2 was available OS they were still selling SR here. I guess things have changed now which is good, but I mentioned is as no one else did. tacker
Do these compounds have UTQG rating ? :-) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/202739-re55s-tire-compounds/#findComment-3600828 Share on other sites
Snowman
I have only ever seen a UTQG rating of 40 listed for the RE55's but it has never been definied as to which compound that rating is for. 260DET
We need a R tyre sticky, lots of useful info here. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/202739-re55s-tire-compounds/#findComment-3603890 Share on other sites
noone
R tyre sticky would be good as the other tyre sticky has a fair bit of uninformed opinions rather than real world testing info And R type tyres really are a whole nuther thing to street tyres Could be a good idea I reckon Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/202739-re55s-tire-compounds/#findComment-3616884 Share on other sites
djr81
Just to confirm the Barons comments the set of RE55's I got fitted yesterday are SR2 compound, the previous ones being SR. LiQuid IcE
why is there a huge difference between prices within the same rim size? 16 inch tyres 205/55/R16 $329 205/50/R16 $400.50 225/50/R16 $280 225/45/R16 $400 especially the last 2? typo? http://www.amecautocare.com.au/bridgestonetyres.htm Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/202739-re55s-tire-compounds/#findComment-3632138 Share on other sites
Snowman
Some are used as a control tyre in certain race catagories and hence the volumes sold are high - which consequently brings prices down. I know all the EVO guys were gutted because Bridgestone recently lost the rights to one of these control tyres so their prices all got jacked up heaps.
