Hello

I have to replace my stock injectors with another set of stock injectors.(one is not working correctly and the rest are soon to die, Nissan checked it for me) I have all of the parts but was wondering if this job is a not so hard one to do by someone who has never changed injectors before. My friend is going to help(he is a mechanic but not sure if he has changed RB20 injectors before.)

I want to do it but I found out that I have to take off the penum, intake manifold to do this. And I have to unscrew the cable that controls the revving of the engine(next to the throttle body).

Is this a easy job? Help please

No offense intended, but by the sounds of it i would pay someone to do it, it would be fairly cheap, and there are a few traps for new players. Just make sure new injector seals are used, and get the injectors cleaned before they go in.

You do not have to remove the intake manifold to change the injectors...i didn't have to when mine was done...the rail unbolts and it all comes off at one go...

I don't have to remove the intake manifold? How do I do it? I see the rail but it looks as if I have to take off the intake manifold, and Nissan told me I have too. Thats why I have gaskets for the intake manifold and penum. I am in Japan so it came from the horse's mouth. But if there is a way I can do it please tell me

I have also changed the injectors in an rb20det. I didnt have to take the plenum off either.

You just have to remove the cooler pipe going to the plemun and a few vacuum hoses and then unbolt the fuel rail.

When you replace the injector seals, makes sure they are genuine nissan ones because the ones that Mr Injector Cleaning Man sells you are slightly smaller.

You could also pay someone around $250 for them to do it. Thats how much they were going to charge me.

I will try that thank you. Oh I have the replacement set of injectors but they are on a rail already. I have all of the replacement seals but was wondering since these are already on a rail, should I just take out my old injectors, rail and all, and just put in the replacement injectors with the rail they are all ready in?

They are the correct injectors

i know this is a few month old but how exactly do you get the injector out. I have the fuel rail with injector in ti sitting on a table and no idea how to remove the injectors. Do I twist and pull or do I do unscrew or what? I tried pulling but nothing much happens, I also tried unscrewing, but nothing much happened either.

once everything is unbolted the fuel rail pulls out easy enough.. the injectors are quite hard to remove tho from the rail i was using a screwdriver to lever them out but than found a small socket n a hammer while having sum1 hold the rail to be much easier.. but your probally not going to want to reuse those injectors :blush:

a small tip tho when undoing the screws that hold the capping onto the injectors get a philips head screw driver that fits into them well and give them a pretty hard hit with the hammer to make undoing the screw a little easier... then get a vice grip lockd onto the top of the screw driver n push down as hard as you can n turn with the vice grips.. then throw away those gawd awful screws and get some M5x16mm high tensile bolts from bunnings =)

if you do manage to round out a screw just hacksaw blade in a slit n hammer the corner with a flat bladed screw driver until the seal breaks then its easy to turn

other than that its pretty easy theres a DIY guide here for a 25, they have pretty similar intakes so shouldnt be to different

just dont go dropping the plastic spacers between the fuel rails and the manifold.. i was warned and still managed to drop 2 so pull them out before u move the rail

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.

Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
