Guys I have just fitted 18" 9.5" +12 TE37 to my 32 GTR, the only issue is the tyres are 265 (they were on them) Now the car does scrub a bit on the left front when i hit a big bump, otherwise its seems ok.

What has anyone done to fix this or whats the best solution ?

Raise the suspention?

Take the plastic inners off and roll the guards

or put 245s on the front.

Thanks Gys I will post somes pics of the car as soon as I have them (i have tein super streets in my car)

Roll your guards, if that doesn't help, try to find out where it's rubbing and use your hammer! Depending on how low it is, don't touch it. Make the car fit the wheels.

Post up some pictures, I want to see how they sit.

Here are a few bad pics, its raining here today so I will get some good side on ones so you can see the gap better.

And Also can anyone tell me the law in regards to the tyres sticking out past the guards, is it the furthest part of the wheels in my case the edge of the tyre and the lip of the guards ? as my tre edge is about 1cm past the lip of the guard but not further then the flared guard itself, I think 245s would brind it in line with the lip.

That doesn't look too bad. Try rolling the guards first and if they still rub, just get new tyres or ignore it. haha. Don't raise the car.

As for the wheels sticking out law thing, it's usually anything past the guard is a defect. So if your tyres are out, but wheels are in, that'll still be a defect and vice versa.

And one more in the rain :)

Well the front tyres are about 40% so you recon leave em let em scrub out then get 245 all around, Does anyone have a 32 GTR with 18" x 9.5" +12

What size tryes do you have on them and if they are either in line with the guards or under on the back are they 245 ?

I am not going to lower it anymore, I like being able to get into most driveways, I will maybe look at either getting tyres or see who can roll guards at the Gold Coast and see if that can flare them out a little bit more (on the back) not sure where the sheels are scrubbing opn the front yet, will have to investigate.

Ok thanks Hey alex I have found the main problem my tyres are hitting the front of the Sideskirts, Really badly I drove it today and it basically bent the metal holding the front of the side skirt forward I have since bent this back and checked both sides, they both hit check out the pics to understand, What has anyone done to fix this, cut some of the side skirt off ? take the small front section off ?

Right hopefully problem is sorted, I pulled the 2 front guards off, grinded the sides as close as I could to the screw holes hammered the wall where the guards screw onto back and now I have about and inch clearence both sides turning the wheel full lock both ways, fingers croshed.

Bugger DMR, means I would scrub with 245, I just went for a spin and it seems better, Just scrubbing from the bumps now not when I turn, I might get some camber on the rears to see if I can get the tyre inline or under the guard so its legal, not sure about camber on the front will it help or will it get closer to something on the inside.

Can anyone tell me how many k's roughtly they get outa tyres when putting camber on them ?

^^Guess depending on how often you drive ya car. I got new tyres about 2 and a half years ago and need new front tyres soon. My cars not driven that much, for about 2 years only done about 37 000 k's.

I was thinking maybe to add rear adjustable upper arms (i thinkt hats what i need) to allow me to change camber so the wheels fit under the guards at the back, then I will see how bad scrubbing is and go from there. front scrubs under big bumps.

    • I also used Knox driveshafts when I the slip yoke T56 to the 3bolted TR6060 type. I believe I was one of his first jobs as it literally changed hands when I was there, started by the old owner and finished by the new. Everyone seemed pretty great about it. So wasn't shy/seemed pretty knowledgeable when dealing with weird custom people like me.
    • Just a reminder orange park was cool back in the day   and drifting the main circuit was even cooler   f**k I miss that car
    • We used Knox Drive shafts years ago when we were doing gravel rally, good guy but I heard it had changed hands? He's got a lot of stuff and is miles cheaper than GJ and so on. He used to have a lathe setup with a MIG torch on the tool holder so he could get the uni welds just right, quite a clever guy. I just got a driveshaft done for my sequential installation and that was through Balancing Services Australia in Preston, they did the Gibson cars in the old days. New genuine CV's, billet yoke, new centre bearing and chome moly shaft was $2k.
    • Thanks for sharing that mate, I've got a couple of spares on the shelf but all the unis are tight....will give old mate a shout. BTW are you sure it wasn't just a $400 paint job? Any detail of what they replaced (cut/reweld?)
    • Yeah I saw that about the US Q50 recently, apparently it was shown to Inifiniti dealers (probably to help with their depression about the cars they can sell). Seemed like a really obvious step to me, the platforms are very similar in many ways. Even if there aren't many people who actually put the money up it should really help with image/reputation. What hasn't been clear anywhere if that is a V38 model of if they are just going to add the trans as an option in a new model year. What they did with the Z from 370z to "Z" is just weird so I'd be surprised if they released this as a V38. Great news for me to have an option; it is far from confirmed that I can get any decent track sessions through the auto so having a manual I can swap to is great.
