Hmm well it may interst you guys, but i have a series 2 in qld outer brisbane suburbs, im 18 and legally not allowed to be driving the car. However justcars have coverd me for $18000 with full comp insurance for $1160 a year;

$1200 excess however

yea im from Mt Gambier South east SA i have a bad driving history SGIC done a Quote 1800 year with a around 2000 claim but justcars done 1200 with a i think it was aoout 1200 claim thats for a S2 stagea 12k with stereo and rims at 3k. bugger all would touch me when i said what kind of car it was.

my latest renewal with justcar came in at about $850 a year with a $400 excess. i could have gotten a lower premium but at a much higher excess. 25 y/o with a licence suspension in the last 5 years and about 15km from Brisbane CBD.

Thanks mate. Worked a treat.

Shannons = 1290 with a 500 excess in southern Sydney. ~20k agreed value.

Over 30 drivers with a minor bingle and a speeding ticket in the last 5 years.

Cheaper than Just Cars.

Just Car wanted ~ $1500

have pretty much sorted through work (corpoorate rates) for ~ $1200

just cars was $1100 for me. and i will get a refund in a few weeks when i hit 25.

and the excess will drop substantially! (i think it was cos i was with AAMI beforehand i got better rate)

only thing just cars wont insure is my carbon fibre hood. :P:( :(

but the full body kit YES. (suckers... my Dolphin kit would be FKN expensive to replace)

i might suss out shannons aswell! since i'll be 25.

Famous did me for $1100, $500 excess Northern Beaches of Sydney at $35k sum insured. . . . That was for M35 AXIS with all the option fitted such at twin sunroofs and Bose stezza

FYI

Im now with SGIC, for around $460 for the year, market value whatever that may be

2000 claim excess tho - but mind you i dont plan on making a claim so for now should be ok

Yeah I'm a big fan of higher excesses for lower premiums, as I have never claimed in over 15 years and reckon its worth the lower premium . . and of course I would only claim if the damage was major or worth more than the excess.

Too many people get hung up about the excess. . it's not like you claim everyday

100% agree. Although it really does come down to how you prefer to manage risk.

In my case, I'm with Just Car - ~$800 a year with $1200 excess. I'm 28 and my wife is 25. I've been with Just Car for around 4 years all up (including 2 other imported, turbo nissans) so my lower premium has saved me more than my excess. I realise I may just be lucky so obviously dont base your decision on my example :P

I'm pretty happy with Just Car's policies. Personally I've found them to be the least restrictive insurer of the whole lot. No questions about where I'm allowed to drive and where I'm allowed to park. Other insurers had a hernia when I mentioned that one day I could potentially park on the street (gasp - oh no, not the street). You gotta wonder what world some of them live in...

Shannons wouldn't insure my car because I didn't park inside fort knox (nah just kidding, you have to have a bricked-in lockable garage and I only had a carport - with a rollerdoor - I probably could've argued the point and got through but I gave up). I was considered to be a "motoring enthusiast" however (yay :( ). From all accounts I've heard they are a quality insurer though, which is a very good reputation to have.

Oh, just got my renewal from LSV. Was very happy with them before ($20k, 786 premium, moderate eccess), got the renewal - $15k value, $1256 premium, $750 excess. Rang them, have a good conversation, basically they are changing directions and not interested much in insuring us anymore.

Oh well, time to shop around.

Well, rang Shannons. Coz my Stag is not my daily drive, I got away with $517. For daily drive it would be just under $700. Excess $500, no claim bonus protection.

I had a policey with them before, my Honda Legend(*sigh*).. was insured with them.

Holy shit.

I just got a price for the stag if I add another driver, a 19 year old female to the insurance.

Went from $1400 or whatever to $3500 or so... She did have one minor bingle early this year - I suspect that drove the price up. The premium drops to $2400 if I have a $1700 excess instead of $600. So assuming I didn't claim in the first year then I'd come out ahead with the $1700 excess. She turns 20 in 3 months though so I thought I might wait till then.

i think all the insurance companies have jacked up there premiums. i also just got my renewal through justcar, up to $1150 a year from $850. i'm 26 and no listed drivers under 25, the only way i can get it back down is buy having a ridiculous excess. the missus got hers though a month ago, up to $700 from $500 for a stock 05 swift. she turned 25 a few months ago so we were expecting a cheeper premium, didn't get one

out of interest, was yours much of an increase on last years premium?

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
