Hey guys,

My R34 came from Japan with the optional Altia aero wing (aka MASSIVE SHOPPING TROLLEY WING). It was the only thing I didn't like about the car, didn't realise what a pain in the ass it would be to have removed at the time...

Anyway, just thought I'd share some before and after photos.

I was originally going to go wingless which is nice, but seemed too "sedan-like" and plain to me.

I love how it looks now, but just wanted to see what others think ;)

All that's left to do now is fix up the 7 bolt holes left in the rear quarters by the old wing :domokun:

Cheers! :)

Shopping trolley wing in all it's glory...

hotness... If you want to sell that rear bar at any time dude, dont hesitate to PM me lol. That things awesome and probably a genuine plastic one?

and i think the wingless makes it look alot "fatter" at the rear with that rear bar. thats why i want it

Thanks for all your comments guys :D

much appreciated

much better ;)

i see you've got the same LED lights as mine, any idea what they're called/where you got em from?

I bought mine from Autojoy in Parramatta, but exact same you can buy from Just Jap

yeap, genuine plastic and proper grills on the bottom half, exxy to replace I'd imagine

Looks great with new wing fitted, that high wing was an absolute abortion

:laughing-smiley-014:

The wingless look is ok, what spoils it majorly is the scratches/holes on the rear of the boot... and to paint that will cost you a few hundred easy, maybe half a grand so just leave that little wing on if money is an issue.

Funnily enough, even though I'm paying off 2 cars money isn't an issue as I still live at home. It's just finding the spare time off work to get it done :) I drive a company car to work and back so not really an issue to get it done straight away

Thanks everyone!

off topic, but on topic sorta. Which car do you prefer? the Z or the 34. Obviously they will both have good and bad, but what honestly do you like more?

Honestly, I like them equally, but for different reasons

My R34, being modified, has that distinct 'tuner' feel to it that makes it so addictive to drive, it's rough around the edges but is an absolute machine to drive (as you'd probably know :) )

The Z has a very refined finish being a newer car, it's fast, but makes it's power in a different way, almost V8 like... even when you're gunning it it doesn't feel as "fast" because the motor is effortless and has a great chassis. Actually draws less attention, people tend to snob me when I drive in the Z :D where I'll find people will wave or beep when I drive in the skyline.

I know I'll have to get rid of one or the other at some point when I bite the bullet and buy a house. Maybe sell both and buy a v36 skyline when they're available to import? updated looks and performance of the Z with a backseat for a future family someday?

It looks much better than the trolley wing but for some reason it doesn't suit the rest of your body, but is definitly a step up.

Wingless without dumping looks weird, it sits too high imo.

Looks good though :P

All I can say is, THAT'S A MUCH MUCH BETTER LOOK WITHOUT THE OLD WING. haha :P Good change. Wingless looks kinda funny as well, not sure why though, but good move. Looks much better.

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
