Couldnt find an answer after searching so just want to know if 6.5's will fit without any sort of modification, or are the stock standard speakers 6"? I have had aftermarket speakers in since I bought it but they are crap and arent even mounted at all (they're a big box of something, sound like crap though), slip around everytime I hit a corner!

thanks

dunno if they'd fit mate but splits at the back aren't necessary. some two way speakers are all you'll need. save the money and put it into a better amp, splits for the front or other stuff. the rears are just for fill

I agree, but since my car came with focal splits in the back i aint getting rid of em.

They do fit coz i have them, not sure how hard it was to get them in.

Yep, agreed as well about the smaller mounting depth. When I changed my car speakers, I actually took everything apart so that only the

rears were ready to be mounted. Then I just drove to Strathfield car radio, and some places are nice enough to let you take the speakers to your

car and see if they will fit.

Of course you should do your research first to narrow down to a few speakers that you are interested in first.

yeah i had 6.5" Hertz splits in the back, had to modify/cut the plastic holder a bit to get them to fit properly though and i think some the holes didn't line up exactly in the plastic holder as well, also I left the restraint bars in over the speakers and i found (when i took them out) that the speaker was actually coming up and just hitting the bracket so now there are 2 small divets on the cones (no biggie), but now I have jaycar 6x9" in the back on an mdf shelf and they shit all over the splits

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
