gareth, for the time being, i think i may have been discussing different pad compounds with people.

rang qfm direct and confirmed A1RM's are rated to 780 degree's, and Brake West confirms that but call them K750's because in their own testing, they feel that's a slightly more accurate measurement of their temp range. Said they're fine at 780 but they feel 750 is where they'll be 100%, 100% of the time :)

i've ordered some A1RM's from the group buy 'markk' setup

The group buy doesn't supply the pads for the brembo's on R33 GTR's .

So I'll have to do with what I have for now, I'm out of money and its too late to get them before the track day, if I have to retire early I will retire early on the day and get pads waaaay before next track day :)

Gareth

If you're running street tyres you should be able to get away with a decent set of street/track pads, IE DS2500 or those QFMs....

If you're using the pads in your daily street driving, don't even bother with DS2500s as they need heat to work properly so you'll have very ordinary brakes when cold. I was recommended against them in my daily.

I haven't had any fade problems with DS2000's (Formulas) and they work fine when cold. Stock power, stock rims etc so if you are modified you might run out of brakes a bit easier.

I use DS2500's and they work fine from cold. They are low dust and have a good friction coefficient. The only real downside is that the distributors know they are good & charge accordingly. Think $300 for a set of front pads for you R32 GT-R.

So they will make a perfectly good selection for a daily although you need to understand if you don't do any track work you are better off with a road style compound.

$300/set? I could nearly afford 2 sets of QFM A1RM pads for that price ;)

I will buy QFM pads and see how they go.

Yeah, $300 for a pad that's no better than QFM A1RM or EBC Red Stuff is a bit steep. But, they have the name and can get away with it. QFM A1RM for the win.

Don't forget to feed back info into the sticky:

About general brake pad info :P

Thanks for all the feedback, I will be getting some new brake pads but probably won't rate them yet as I don't have enough experience in my car to judge how good they are.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
