My GTR has been keyed, :P

it was already there when i bought the car, but im thinking its time to do something about it.

I had a car detailer look at it to see whether or not he could 'cut' it out, he said some of it could be but the main part (on the rear quater panel) was too deep

i.e. you can actually feel the scratch with your fingernail

i have taken some pics of the worst part, it actually looks worse in the pics cos of the camera flash, but u get the idea.

I was wondering if there are any other options, other than repainting the side of the car, such as

can you have the scratch filled (touched up) then polished, or something like that. Any help or options/experiences/reccomendations would be great.

Thanks

:)

I know you said you dont want to paint the side of the car but years back i did work experience at a crash repairer place and im pretty sure they could sand off a certain section of paint (say around the scratched area) and fade new paint into it. This prevented you from doing the whole pillar, side, and possibly roof. Dont know if that made any sense lol but your best bet would be to have a chat with a few Spray painters i got a kit painted down at M&C Doyle crash and they did a brilliant job for a really good price they mite be worth a chat. Apart from that you could get touch up paint and go over it but it will most likely look crappy.

Nah, touch up paint looks shit. Your best bet would take it to a spray painted to get ideas.

Why do people do that anyway? It makes no sense!! Enjoy the nice cars, don't destroy them. Thats what I do!!

They should be f**king killed.

No trial, no jury, straight to execution.

Man, I wish I could've caught him doing it.

I would have given anything to catch that asshole doing it.

It'd been worth him doing it just so I could've caught him doing it.

What's more chickenshit than f**king with a man's automobile?

I mean, don't f**k with another man's vehicle.

You don't do it.

damn, i feel you pain mate, i got keyed 2 years ago on my R32, and never found a solution. it looked better after a cut+polish, but not the same..

your best bet is to take it to a panel beater, but unfortunately be prepared for the news that you might have to consider a lot of painting :P

its furious to contemplate having to spend $$ when you did absolutely nothing to deserve it..

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
