lol no doubt any complaining local is going to complain every single day the track is open, just have to expect that.

right hand side is lovely for everyone except toyota drivers, right?

She's right mate, I'll plumb the exhaust into the cabin. Should quiet it down AND keep me feeling calm and relaxed...

I got quite a few comments at QR about how quiet my car was, but that was probably relative to other cars out there.

If the cars meet the required decibel level then someone just needs to tell the aulde baig to pull her head in.

If they continue to handle her with kid gloves she will continue to complain. Make her life as miserable as she appears to be.

Or play the guilt card. Do you want these people to go out and run their cars on the street because they have nowhere else to do it. It could be your kids that get hurt as a result. :)

I live next door to Amberley air base. Every month or so i give them a call and boy, you should hear them cringe on the phone until they realise that i am not whinging about the noise. I actually demand more fly overs over my roof. !!!POWAAAAAHHHHHH BABY!!! They get a kick outta that and i cant be sure but It seems like they give my place an extra buzz or 2. Luvit.

92db. What a joke. Lets just kill the whinging old bat and dump her in the lake. :)

It's not environmentally friendly to pollute the lake with a bag of shit. Maybe there's a sewerage treatmant plant nearby thats more appropriate to the task

BAAAARRRR HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Now then...... thats not very nice boys. Can't we be more creative in our technique to convince her curcit racing benifets the Whole comunity. I'm sure someone could do that in a, niceish way???

Skids outside her house every night...except when there has been racing on that she has not complained about, soon she will realise that racing isnt so bad lol

Apparently there's just one particular resident who does the complaining, a lady who evidently isn't into racing.

It’s been loosely suggested at a racing meet I was at, that some people were going to make things go bump in the night at her house. But this isn’t a thread for that.

Can anyone confirm 92db is just for road cars/bikes? And not race cars? And what are they deeming a “race car”:

Old mate with no plates or rego stickers on his GTR with side pipes that came on a trailer, or something with log proof to show it’s actually a race car..

I believe its 92db, end of story.

Doesnt matter what car you bring along, has to meet 92db limit or you go home

It is 92db and thats that - if your too loud it is ciao and no refunds. I was there last month. On the day there were some GT3RSR's and they roar pretty good but no trouble on the meter. There was also some turbo Rx7's and no trouble for them either. Bloody great track!!

Ok. Just confirming as it was said on page one it was for street cars. Thats for clearing it up

There are noise restrictions and it is for street cars only at this stage.

Two seperate things there in the one sentence which is confusing.

There is a noise limit + tracks open only for street cars at this stage

:D

How about we just sound proof the old bag's house, with 50 tons of concrete poured onto it. Or if we care about her not dying, get some old ex racer stud to schmooze her up and convince her racing is good, with chocolates and moonlight walks by the lake.... side track. I'm not totally evil

92dB Huh.

Thats about the level of a Stock HSV or XR8 Falcon.

Might have to get one of those exhaust butterflys for when I go past the Tower

But In All seiousness if they have to keep turning cars away/kick them out no-one will end up going because I for one dont want to drive an hour to Brissy Pay my money only to be kicked off because I was a couple of decibels to loud and some old Hag had a whinge.

I wouldnt be going back.

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
