H.i.d Whos Got Em? Anyone Got Anything More Than 8000k?

Recommended Posts

so i want some hid's for the GEETEEARRRRRRR

anyways ive seen 6000k in real life and it was mint as

but someone told me theyve seen 10000k and nothing beats it!

anyone for pictars?

i got 6000k and they are much brighter than 10000k

the lower you go the more the light will become like natural light

when you go higher like 8000k 10000k you get more of the blue in the light

ill show u mine tonite if you wana see them :P

Ive got 8000k(blue tinge in it) in my R33 and my mate has 6000k(white natural light) in his R32. His are a bit brighter than mine, but the light in mine is a more intense beam. Besides, i think by law you are only allowed up to 6000k, not a 100% sure though. Ive actually seen 14000k on a XR6, it is a really deep purple.

i've got 4300k, pure white light. 6000k is white with a slightly blue tinge. My friend has 10k in his accord euro, it's almost purple. Rice factor is high but visibility-wise, they're useless.

Putting HID's into a car that came out of the factory without HID's is illegal. Doesn't matter what temperature the globes are. They're illegal. Even those who have retrofits. Without cleaners and some balancing thing I don't know and engineering, it's illegal.

Don't go for anything above 6000k in my opinion. 6000k is blue/rice enough for me. If I bought another kit, it would definitely be 4300k.

Here are some photos to compare from standard lights to 6000k HID kit lights.

Look at those hot spots, glare and shocking cut offline.

Edit:

Here are some pictures to show you how good some retrofitting lights can be.

I had 10000k and they were sweet as, could see heaps, now ive got 8000k in the p/s after one blew, and i dont think theyre as good, theyre just blueish, and i can see further on my d/s which still has the 10000k in it.

the 10000k are slightly purple which goes with my m.n.p which is sick, you have m.n.p as well so go 10000k too!l!

You know u want too!

It's illegal, but what modification to your car isn't these days...

Page 2, there's something about HID lights. Pretty sure there was something else, but that's what I found first so...

Apparently even the factory ones are illegal in R33's, they're supposed to be self-levelling and one other requirement that I can't recall :D

That looks simply fantastic!!!

Does anyone know if this is possible/available for an R33?

^^^ It's all custom made. Pretty much like what Ronin did on his 32 in the tutorial.

It'll be pretty expensive to make it look like the ones above though.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
