well my goal was always 700hp at the wheels on pump gas. probably a bit of a stretch with the T04z. Might do it with the 1.00A/R exhaust housing.

But i'd be pretty happy with anything over 600.

Going on other setup somewhere in the low 600rwhp is probably achievable but with the stroker and large a/r turbine housing you'll probably do it on less boost than what others have used. I've seen a vq30det with a t04z on meth on an engine dyno max out with 750hp with boost starting to taper off late in the rev range which pretty much indicates the turbo was maxed out.

Looks the goods m8 welldone. My setup pretty close 2 yours just dont have the stroker crank & cams a little different ive got 280 tomei in mine plus i got lucky 2 get a N1 block. Have 2 compare dyno runs when both are finished lol. You running .81 or 1.00 housing first. :teehee:

yeah mate i was following your build. was keen to see how it performed on the dyno. How is it going anyway, get that shim issue sorted yet?

Going to run the 0.81 first, most important result for me at the moment is how responsive it will be.

cheers

There are a couple of RB26's getting around oz making 650 at the wheels with the T04Z. I figure a bit more torque from the extra capacity and a few more revs should see it get close to 700.

Not sure if i want to hit it that hard thou.

Be more than happy just to be banned from the plex for running a 10. hehe

Yeah the head is off engine out something wrong with valve guides apparently they found a few shavings in head from guides so its back at the head shop valves had a couple of scuffs on them they havent told me if its exhaust or intake but most prob exhaust but keep ya posted.

bugger man, there's always something ay.

i guess it will be all worth it in the end but sometimes it seems there is no end.

Ya dead right cant win was going to have it back 2 weekends ago they run it on dyno with 14psi & it made 311kw with no timing or full tune this on run in tune. Reved it 2 6500 only so it sounds kinda promising.

Just a quick update.

Intercooler piping done, custom catch can, custom over flow and header tank.

Just wiring up the last of the electronic gadgets now. Should be starting up this week. Nervous times! lol.

Thats MAD!

How does the HKS T04Z go?

Whens the boost kick in and how much you running?

I have sat in a R33 GTR with a GReddy T88 and the thing is lagy till 6000rpm and then it flys.

Also noticed you got the one piece inlet plenum... You planning for drag races?

Dunno how the T04Z goes yet. Last time of drove my car it have R34 GTR turbo's.

Planning to run 1.8 to 2 bar boost.

Yeah the Hypertune plenum and single throttle body is becoming a favourite for drag racers. I'm planning on doing abit but nothing serious.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
