changed my mind. I'm going to man up and bring this down for the main game instead. it will probably mean i spend most of the day under the car, re-attaching the turbo each time the studs stretch/come loose but what the hell... someone has to play the cannon fodder role!

quick question - what's the format going to be? do you break us up into groups and have (for eg) 10 minute sessions each like a normal supersprint, or do you get a series of single attempts to set your time - ie out lap, timed lap, in lap?

Oh yes Harry..bring the Datto 1200!!!

This beast is one serious weapon. I have driven this car a couple of times over the years when the previous owner had it. For those that know wakefield, I did a 1.07.20 in it a couple of years ago on old R compounds. I know the car is much better now from when I last drove it.

I love this car.....go the Datto's

HAHAHA I think from memory Jas it was retreads and the trailer. Hang on a minute..I think you car was on the trailer!!!

I still love you Jas, and yes I will let you know when I have a day free for some GP tuition :)

Steve, I am hoping that you will not need the cage so as soon as I know I will let you know. From what I have been told so far you wont need one but I need to clarify that. Either way the class you want to run in next time will not require one :D

Awesome :)

I think its still got the same tyres now!

sheez Bozzy - so much for being an unkown quantity eh?

but that's still seconds off the pace of the Exige - and that's with you at Datsun's wheel! then factor in my fat untalented arse slowing the whole show down...

should probably be a question mark after cheap too...

Expensive Dato race car is cheap cheap Nissan race car. Expecially what is turning up for open class.

very true. its all relative.

have you had your Zed on the scales? I know you've got lots of power but that's still a very impressive time for a big car at a reasonably tight track like Wakefield.

Now that the wheels point straight all the time and it has some consitency in the camber curves it should be a fair bit faster and noticeably easier to drive. Particularly on the technical tracks. Hence why I reckon there's a good 5 seconds or so available at OP GP for a 1.13 maybe a 1.12, the 1.18 doesn't align well with the other times.

If John can coax that out of it on the day, I reckon it will be hard to beat. It's certainly the sort of times, given a dry track, that I expect will be needed to be in there with a chance.

Cheers

Gary

    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
