But a GTR badge on the boot makes you think twice about giving it a run off the lights, every man and his dog trys to run my car at the moment from V6 commodores to 307 cluby's, Much to their disapointment.

Cheers Dave

I have had some try to push my buttons at the lights, young and dumb.

But you are correct most who are in the know don't bother.

The cams are rocking the engine is purring, this scares most clubys, fpvs and exotics.

Not long ago I heard the fastest GTR's in Australia are kept by Maserati owners, don't know if there is much truth in this.

You should in my opinion drive a GTR in Stock form then slightly moded form to come to a conclusive decision.

Sell the car buy the R33 GTR.

Just go drive one and see what I mean.

Agreed...

I've owned a R33 GTST and a R33 GTR... the GTR is easily worth the extra money

It's impossible to describe, just go drive one, they feel very different..

im an ex 190kw s14 owner and took a r33 gtr for a test drive, and all i can say is how dissapointed i was.

your maintenance costs will no doubt be higher, and id probably be inclined to say stick to the gtst. you know where its been, being 2wd you have less things to go wrong, and you have already started the mod trail.

i loved the way it handled but for the extra cost i personally dont think its worth it. i much prefer the evo7 to the gtr.

Dissapointed? Because it didn't flutter?

Oh, and ITBs > VCT  ...GTRs are as good as the next performance car as a daily.

Lol i agree %100, one of my mates works at dvg nissan and gets to drive the evo9's he said there shit compared to gtr's..

Your gtst with 220rw will most likely beat a 'stcok' gtr. My brother has a stock 32 gtr and my gtst with 200rwkw, power fc etc, beats him in a straight line, not by heaps i should add but it does. The thing is though if he put on an exhaust and power fc it would leave my car for dead. probably even with just an exhaust. So basically it would be veruy easy to make the gtr faster than your current gtst with very little mods. I'm in the same boast as you atm and am looking at 33 gtr's as well.

a stock gtr will give you around 140-150awkw but you can still pull a high 12sec pass on a good launch. you'll probably get the same in your car (220kw) with a good launch.

u must be kidding.. 14-150awkw? try 170-180 dude... to tell u the truth ive never seen a healthy GTR make less than 180awkw in stock form... ever. They dont make 206kw from factory. try 220+. I owned an RX7 race car.. a 211kw 180sx drifter car (im 26yo and yes i know im gettin old as the days go by) and driven many evos 6-9 and plenty of hardcore gtst's... i can say from experience, the gtst has nothing on a gtr. it never has and never will... doesnt matter how much u spend on it.. its never going to be a GTR.. plus a gtr holds its value a million times better.

Lose the Gts-t and buy a GTR :D

forgot to add.. 190kw ex s14 driver and u were disappointed?? LOL i had an s14 owner race me once.. "230rwkw" it never stood a chance :D

Yep, obviously no comparison between them, the GTR was Nissan's idea of a proper performance car while the GTS turbo was a comparatively mild stepping stone from the family cars in the rest of the range.

The GTS does have the advantage of lighter weight (~200kg) but the GTR is better to the point where you don't think about it because everything else is that superior in performance terms.

If you're after performance there's no question really, even coming from a modified GTS.

ive seen stock gtr's pull 150-160kw max on the dyno. thats not a bad thing as its at all 4 wheels. if they pull off the front drive shaft then you'd expect that to be a fair bit higher - 180kw as you mentioned.

gtr's dont hold their value, they just depreciate at a different price range as they initially cost more to buy . r32 gtr's in decent condition are going for the price of an s2 r33 gtst (15-18k), and r33 gtr's are going for around $25k.

when i had just a safc and basic mods with around 200kw i was keeping up with gtr's on rolling starts.

i agree that stock vs. stock the gtst doesnt have a thing on a GTR - but its a GTR ffs.

Your brothers GTR needs a good tune up by the sounds of things. A Stock healthy one isn't that slow.

Your points about small mods making the GTR faster again is certainly true. :)

the gtrs uve seen are obviously not healthy examples.. ive never seen a GTR make less than 180 @ ALL 4s....

mine made 187awkw.... at the start... and they do hold theyre value..

ive also never seen a clean good condition gtr sell for less than 20k were a Gts-t does. my mate just bought himself a 97 model for 10k. stock of course..

the GTR was 120K when new.

and is now down to $20K for a good example as you said.

what was a GTST of the same year worth when new? a quarter of the gtr price?

as a percentage or as a dollar figure, the GTR has lost more.

Have owned both a R33 GTST series 2, 206kws at the wheels and now my GTR R33 stock as a rock. Only has a FMIC that was it no exhaust etc etc.... The GTST felt more highly strung with acceleration but the GTR feels totally different to drive... It feels like it was built to go fast not like the gtst were i built it to go fast. Handling is no comparison GTR hands down. And now ive spent around $3000 on bolt on stuff for the gtr and im hoping to see around 280 - 300kws at the wheels....

sell up gtr... doesnt matter what u spend on the GTST it will NEVER be a GTR.... Handling... Power gtr ftw

Meh, I bought one for the fancy R badge

that helps to! lol.... all my mates, im like, i drive a skyline there like oh ok. they know dozens of people with skylines... then im like no no mines a GTR and there like oh cool lets have a look lol

my god people get worked up about these questions..

It's like someone said something about someones mother when they mention anything bad about the gtr

the short answer is, any skyline is better than an auto skyline.

so yes..

sell up and buy a gtr.

what about NA r32s?

    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
