Okay,

There isn't really an exhaust reference thread like there is for other parts for our cars, so lets post what we have that fits, and where from, and i will up date this post, then maybe it could be added to the FAQ thread?

So everyone who has fitted justjap/x-force/flyn dump/fronts etc, post here

If you have used an exhaust from another car, add it here, and try and show what mods were done. I picked up an r32 exhaust, so will be posting what needs to be changed once it has been fitted, so that others can take advantage of the cheapness of second hand r32 exhausts.

If someone can edit this image of an R32 exhaust showing what they did, it will help me, if not, i will update once mine is done. post-8497-1207469502_thumb.jpg

Brand new cat backs can be found here, starting at 799 for a stainless HKS: http://justjap.com/store/home.php?cat=252

Justjap split does not fit, hits floor, quality not as good

Bos importing and CES split do fit, but cost more, good quality

X force bell mouth fits, good quality

bell mouth produced more kw approx 7-8kw on a hks GTRS on a neo stagea, over a split dump.

A couple of weeks ago I finally got around to fitting the exhaust to the Stagea. It is a Nismo 3.25” off the R32GTST with a large off set muffler in the middle and a straight though muffler at the rear. I used it because it was spare (the R32GTST has an Apexi 90mm titanium exhaust on it now) and because it was quiet, but at the same time not too restrictive. The old RB20DET made 225 rwkw with it on, so the 200 rwkw target from the Stagea seems reasonable. Plus I am going to use the Performance Metalcraft split dump off the R32GTST, so it is basically the whole exhaust, except the Stagea will run a cat. I already have a new Catco high flow cat ready to go on to replace that crappy compliance one.

On the Stagea, the Nismo exhaust works exactly as I hoped it would, very quiet up to 4,500 rpm, with absolutely zero drone. It has the RB signature howl at 5,000 rpm upwards though.

To get it to fit the Stagea we had to do a few mods. I will post up some pictures, in the interim;

1. We (mostly Liverpool Exhausts) had to add around 4” just before the rear subframe

2. Plus around 3” between the rear muffler and the tail pipe.

3. Cut off the R32 hangers at the sub frame and the rear muffler and weld on a couple of new ones in the Stagea positions.

4. Cost was $190 for the mods, fitting, new bolts, nuts and gaskets.

So it was a pretty cheap upgrade and it certainly makes a difference to the power and useable rpm range. Thinking about it, the Stagea is the first Sklyline/Stagea I have had with a standard exhaust, all the others have had modified exhausts when I got them. So this is the first time I get to experience what a difference an exhaust makes, so I am enjoying doing it in stages, to feel the difference each upgrade makes.

:D cheers :)

PS; for Alex, thanks for buying that FMIC, I found a Blitz 600 x 300 x 100 instead :D .

I have a Just Jap front dump pipe on my S1 that fits great with no mods - not sure who said they dont fit but mine did.

THe rest of mine is a Tannabe system from a s2 that needed some adjustment to exit at the correct point at the rear. The S1 has an indent for the muffler exit and the s2 doesnt from memory. Just a slight bend to get it to fit spot on.

System is very quiet - only just noticeable at idle and cruising without being too offensive at revs. Revs a lot easier and smoother but not certain of exact power gains.

M35 Exhaust. Had it locally made from a mob that I have been using for years....great quality and great job.....Nice burble for a V6 turbo as well!

Got 3" cat back....will be doing the dump pipe and new high flow cat as soon as the turbo get's done....pretty weird thing happened when I did it as well....boost went up from approx 8PSI to approx 15PSI as soon as it was done....new it would be a slight difference but not that much.

i have an 8th mnth 98 model series2. brought an r34 AM Performance split down down pipe that fitted but didnt meet up to original cat as my car seemes to be a change over model between S2 and S1 models. turns out early S2's have an r33 down pipe length but i live in Adelaide and the guy that builds them is around the corner so had him make a decat pipe. The drive to his place with just the dump pipe was exciting though. 3 inch S/S Trust Power Extreeme 2 cat back ($760 from car toys)was fitted in less than half an hour without even jacking the car up of the ground. i havent heard another stagea other than mine but i know mine sounds sweet as and sounds like it is flowing very freely.

i went custom, 3" mild, mild mid, magnaflow 8x5 rear

I've just installed a JJ 3" dump and an X Force Hi Flo Cat with existing 3" Cat back to a muffler???? ann a Fujisturbo Cannon

Its quiet as, but it lets the 25 breathe. It may not be the best, but it suits me at this point in time.

Atm l've got a 3" system from turbo back. From cat back its and Apexi Megaboom exhaust.

Question:

If l change the muffler on it from the straight through 3" Apexi "megaboom" ... to a 2.25/4" (inlet/outlet) Magnaflow, can l expect much of a decrease in sound & performance?

Atm l'm getting 97db, but l want to get it under 90 for legal purposes as l don't wanna be swapping and changing exhausts again, but l don't want to loose much/if any when it comes to GO.

Something like this (should look ok with a DAYZ bodykit) and is a little more subtle than the massive apexi thing atm.

I just went from a 2.5" ghetto spec catback system with one resonator and no muffler to a 3" catback with no resonator and Autotechnica Cannon....

It's loud....make that very loud.

Is that headache LOUD? lol

    • Decided to upgrade my pressurised plastic coolant expansion tank for a fancy pants alloy version The OEM versions can get brittle, even the new plastic one I got when I first got the car is a starting to show signs of "stress" I wasn't cheap, but it is basically unbreakable
    • Morning all, I have an RB25DET Neo that's in need of a rebuild. Will need new pistons etc due to detonation damage. Would anyone be able to recommend a shop in Southeast Queensland who I could bring my long motor to for a rebuild? Just want someone who knows RBs and whos built a bunch of them before. TLDR - recommended engine shops for RB rebuild.
    • Gday Thought it was about time I started a build thread! As expected this project has snowballed into a huge financial liability, but unless you’re strong willed and responsible, it’s not a surprise. Background -  My first turbo car was an R32 GTS-4, got my full license and then totalled my Au Falcon a week later, so while trying to sell my RMZ450 dirtbike to buy another car a bloke offered to swap the R32 which at the time I felt like I was ripped off but looking back and seeing prices of those now ($40kish) it was a good deal, I didn’t know enough about these cars to appreciate what I had so sold it before the RB20 blew up. Between here and there, out of 12 cars I’ve owned the note worthy ones are a V8 Lexus SC400 (soarer), a couple of XR6 Turbos and my beloved S15 which I had for about 3 years, picked it up for $12500, repairable write off but she was fine, gun metal grey/pewter and bone stock/unmolested until I got my hands on it. Ended up spending about the value of the car and 280kw, 2 demerit points by the time I got defected and sold it for $14500 (also $40kish in today’s market, rip) Fast forward to the present day, I’m in a much better position financially and daily an MQ Triton (great cars, pipe down Ranger Bois), I cruised marketplace and car sales for a few months looking for another R32, the best deal I could find was an absolute rust bucket half finished project for $12000, until this R33 popped up in Port Macquarie for $18k - unregistered and barely running but decent shape, kept an eye on it for a few weeks and the price steadily dropped, $16k then $15k then $14k, that was the point where I was like shit someone’s gonna snatch this up! It was owned by a young bloke who had big plans but him and his missus just had a baby so smartest move financially for them but big gain for me. So 2 days later I’m towing a car trailer to pick this thing up. Roughly 2 weeks and $3500 later I’m cruising around Newcastle in my beat up R33 all smiles and dose noises! It only needed some basic shit to get it going, coil packs and air flow meter, electrical stuff and all fluids changed, 158k kms and running pretty good, nice smooth engine after oil and coolant flush - when I say coolant I mean it had been filled up with tap water, every gallery and heater element was filled with rust, 8-9 flushes later and still had brown liquid coming out but she’ll be right. The car was painted R34 Bayside Blue at some point but whether it was a cheap job or just not looked after is anyone’s guess, clear coat flaking like sausage roll.  Was rethinking my choices and contemplating life, had it up for sale for $22k - still cheaper than any registered R33 but got little interest, next minute I had an opportunity at work - 6 months overseas for good money, so that was a no brainer, fast forward again and here we are with a 50% finished project. Current Mods - 200ish KW according to butt dyno Was tuned with Apexi PowerFC EBC (old school Greddy Profec)  Stock turbo (more shaft play than a Tinder date gone right) 3inch turbo back Varex muffler  Aftermarket injectors of mystery size, Power FC showed 36% duty cycle at full boost so not behd good size Someone had good intentions but stuck with the stock R33 MAF so we had misfires at 6000rpm due to the MAF hitting 5.2V So far I’ve redone the entire interior with carpet form Car Mats Direct, new Seats and steering wheel from Autotechnica, also sound system by Autobarn (mainly Kicker) Also MCA pro comfort coil overs - Hands down best purchase yet, worlds of improvement over the tired 30yrold shocks Goals - 450kw/600hp on flex tune New paint job - Midnight Purple 2 Engine is at the shop getting rebuilt with forged rods a pistons, new valves and springs, ATI Harmonic balancer, Aeroflow 7.5L sump, rear head drain and oil restrictors as per oil control thread* and cam covers modded for larger breathers, other stuff I can’t recall of the top of my head Parts purchased and to be installed once the engine is done -  Engine loom from Wiring Specialties including these options: Haltech Nexus S3 R35 Coil pack conversion  PRP Dual Trigger kit Fan controller  Other Parts -  262 Kelford Cams Turbo - Hypergear ATR43SS3-ProS with T51R mod (whistly boi) 6 boost manifold (high mount) 50mm Turbosmart Pro gate (plumbed back for legal reasons) HKS Super Turbo Exhaust with High Flow Cat Custom 3.5inch dump and front pipe 1500cc Bosch injectors  Fuel Pump walbro 525 Haltech MAP and IAT sensors Haltech Flex Sensor Fenix Radiator with dual thermo fans LS1 Alternator Kit Oil Filter Relocation from EFI solutions and Cooling pro oil cooler Many other things sitting in my garage waiting for that engine to come back.
