Hello!

I have a Nissan Skyline GTST engine and I want to fix Mazda RX7 manual gearbox.

My problem is that I don't know which flywheel to match them together. I want to know the flywheel model!!!

clutch plate --> pressure plate --> clutch pump --> clutch pedal --> OK

but unsure what type flywheel - please reply if you can help!!!

provided the stock flywheel and pressure plate fits inside the rx7 bell housing i'd be using them with an appropriately sized mazda friction plate to match the splines on the box.

Obviously you'd need to have some sort of bell housing adapter.

I'd have thought it'd be easier (and cheaper) to run the 25 box and go a custom gearbox cross member and tail shaft. My old S4 rx7 box was weak as piss....

Thankyou for your information!

the reason why I am doing this is because in Sri Lanka there are no manual Nissan Skyline gearbox. I'm thinking Mazda RX7 will be a good match for the Skyline GTST engine.

You could just buy one off the forum, and have it shipped over, much less work

+1 to weak as piss

You'd be better off putting in an RB20 gearbox. I've got one round the back you could have. they are also weak as piss so you'll be set.

The flywheel should fit...just, but you will need flywheel and pressure plate from the Skyline and clutch plate from the RX7.

Then the plate diameter is wrong as you would be using a 225mm clutch plate and the skyline is 240mm. You would either need to get a custom clutch made with the RX7 hub using the skyline outer plate or use an R32 GTS non-turbo flywheel and pressure plate with RX7 clutch plate which is 225mm...the same as R32 non turbo.

Either way, it's a stupid idea...don't be stupid!

    • All I'm hearing is sequential swap time. Gives you a shifter, and crisp hard fast shifts. You can even use flappy paddles with them. You just can't give the shifter the side to side shake to make sure you're in neutral
    • HKS2530 frame and a newer CHRA plausible? like a g25-500 CHRA in the hks2530 frame?
    • Welcome back mate ,I also joined in the early 2000's , since then I have been in and out a few times depending if I had a skyline in the garage.  I have the another one now , so signed up and back with the SAU team.
    • I used "different strokes for different folks" quite pointedly as honestly, there is no wrong when it comes to choosing what you like.  I always day dreamed about flappy paddles with fast shifts in a sporty RWD Turbo and to me the sound and feel of it cutting through gears in a steady stream is exciting, engaging, and keeps the car better balanced - I *also* like h-patterns, but I find them more engaging and fun in a nice hoonable peaky NA thing.  Type-R Integra/old school NA rotary, things that are raw and need all the rpm where picking the gear and getting it sky high is part of the engagement of the whole thing despite the fact that they probably need closer ratios and faster shifts even more than a 3l turbo thing haha
    • If I wasn't allowed or really had the desire to visit China it would probably fit in my carry on, but I have no desire, Japan would be nice during Cherry Blossom time though I might need to chat to Jackie about that, that should actually be an easy conversation though as she is currently talking about another cruise, cruise ship to Japan, a week in Japan to see the sights, then cruise home I may even be able to find those OEM NC Recaro seats over there that I cannot find here 🤔
