yup... athid ROLLED mine... flaring is much more likely to crack paint...

he'll reply sooner or later...

Thanks fellas... ah... I don't wanna roll mine as my rims fit nicely and there's no need to roll them... however, I just want a small flare nothing much... but I don't want to crack the paint...

Oh well, I'll just have to wait until Athid responds... would you have his email mobile number by any chance?

Cheers,

He's overseas at the moment as far as I know. Not too sure when he'll be back though.

Edit: To flare, you'll need to roll. With flaring, you're just rolling the guards, but instead of stopping, you're continuing to push out the guard which creates the flare look. Unless you're wanting to pull the guard out from underneath and pull it out...

i was told that the chance of front guards cracking paint from flaring is pretty high, especially on the straight edge R32 shape.

so to tackle a really bad scrubbing problem (after i got myself some camber for the fronts), i changed the fronts from 235/45/R17 tyres to 215/45/R17.

no more scrubbing, and i got some stretch which suits the back stretched tyres

If they stick out,you have the wrong offset. I have 10.5 wide on mine an the dont sit out the guard.

Looks nice though.

No such thing as a 'wrong' offset. Depends on the fitment and stance you want... and if you actually want your car to look good.

Having flared guards without the wheels to fill them would look pretty strange and imo homo.

Actually, this did cross my mind....

Does anyone have pictures of a R33/R32 with flared guards?

hey spunky are you planning on fatter rims?

Hey bud,

Nah, not fatter dished rims... just what i got, 18 inch deep dish... i just want the back to slightly flared a bit only...

Also, the above pics looks like fb add-on guards... don't want this, i want it done in subtle manner.

What about flaring the guards before a respray? Or can the paint still crack?

Is that flared guards? Looks like widebody judging by the petrol cap! How much would something like that cost to get done? Looks awesome!

Cracking only occurs when/if you don't heat the paint up enough/too much or are pulling/stretching the guard out too much. If you got the guards flared before the respray, there's nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't say that's "flaring". This is what I see flaring as...

Obviously flaring and some extra work done to it to make it look a little better.

Flare people normally go for.

No, thats where you're wrong. IMO, if they DON'T stick out you've got the wrong offset. Wheel fitment will make or break the look of a car. Nothing worse than sunken wheels.

Contact Primal Garage in West Footscray, they specialize in this sort of work on Japanese cars. They'll be able to do it no worries. If I were in Melbourne i wouldn't use anyone else.

    • HELP   Hey all, Is there an accelerator cable from another Nissan that can be used on the R33 GTST RB25DET with a Greddy forward facing plenum?  Thanks in advance  Rob
    • Or do we think it was installed to give 1 bar of boost max, all day, everyday?
    • So could it be assumed it has been installed intentionally with potentially a power FC boost controller kit?
    • Had my rig on Matt's dyno at PITS the other day. After a few years between tunes I added a few sensors and swapped intercoolers. Result. 553hp at 26psi. Not bad for an FJ20 that was built in 2007. The problem.. It filled the overflow bottle on hard runs which leads me to believe the head gasket isn't sealing. I have a coolant pressure sensor which was reading cap pressure at 22psi and occasionally overrunning to 23/24 psi on deceleration after a pull. It was not spiking. It has arp2000 head studs and a cometic gasket. As its been 18 years in service, I pulled the engine out and head off. Everything looks good but we obviously have an issue. Where I'm at.. Years ago I had the same issue, I checked the stud tension and they were all over the place. Some at 60 to 70 and some up near 90. I nipped them all to 100ft lbs and this stopped the water push until now. I believe this compromised the gasket back then. What do I do? 2 options are..  1) I bought arp 625+s, which I could put in with a new gasket. Thinking Kameari this time, reassemble and try again. 2) strip the block, get fire rings machined in with copper gasket and try that. I do not want to push it more than 28 to 30psi. I think the turbo will be out by then anyway. (G30-770). My other concern is the long term ability of a copper head gasket. Are they streetable for years? I feel like a new gasket with the new studs will probably suffice, but I don't know. Any thoughts welcome and advice on copper gaskets and fire rings. Thanks!
    • I'm a fan of the JZX110, and the Aristo. Big cruiser cars, and with the factory cars, super comfortable and feel like you're driving an armchair! And the JZ motors are a pretty nice engine too, especially with some basic mods.   The import process, and the need to be able to trust people, and the fact there's so many scammers around is what ever puts me off wanting to go through that ordeal!
