Hey,

Just seeing if anyone from SAU is interested in getting their car crime guarded?

Basically its getting your car's VIN number etched onto all the windows of your car. It takes all of less than 5minutes to complete. Its only a small silver etching onto the corner of each window on your car.

There is a cost involved in getting this done, its usually $50 if you get it done. But as they do club fund-raising for this the cost will be $40 and then each car that gets it done, they (crime guard) will donate $10 towards the club.

If we get enough interest i can ring the guy who does it and can organise a saturday or possibly sunday to all cruise down together and everyone can get it done all at once.

As a bonus of getting it done, they issue you with a certificate and you go onto their database, and then if your car gets stolen and NOT recovered, crime guard will issue the owner with $1000.

Click the pics below for a detailed explaination from their brochure which i got off them.

Id probably be interested but dont get back to Australia until November.....sigh :D

PS: wooooo.....100th post to me :P

Im sure we can work something out with them for when you get back. theyre pretty laid back guys there.

I work with the Wife of the guy that owns the rights to do this in SA.

She wanted me to become part of the francise and do this in my spare time on weekends.

Great idea but not so great if you want to show your car at car shows.

nar its pretty small, if you look at the etching that is on your windows now (eg NISSAN and type of glass it is) its pretty much the same size as that, not that noticeable

can we pls get some pics? i like the sentiment but if the numbers are huge and stand out, then im not interested... the promo material doesnt really do i justice by your description

-D

think about it

someone steals your car, strips it

whats identifiable if they nick 10 other similar cars?

vin / unique numbers etched on glass means they cant get rid of certain things as easily

ideally need to find someone who'll do DataDot for this sorta price (which wont happen)

ok to answer a few questions, im sure the theifs dont look at the windows when they are about to steal a car, but as Matty 31 said they cant rid of parts as easily with it on there.

next, the size is very small would not get in the way if it was a show car, but defiantly a good idea if your car is a daily and you leave it at shops and that, but would prob not bother if its a show car and only a show car. so when you go out to your car next have a look on the glass that you got now and look for the NISSAN writing and under neath that i think it says Tempalite or Templex or something similar, its the same size as those etchings..

And hey its only 40 bucks and then 10 bucks for every car that gets it done goes towards SAU as a donation.

any more questions feel free

    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
