Hi Guys,

I know this type of threads have been done to death. But my front's are stuffed, due to exessive camber. I have 235/45/17 on my R33.

Just had a f/r camber/caster kit fitted and need new rubber.

Since its just for the fronts, I don't want to spend a ton of money.

Looking through the existing threads and calling around. This is what I got .

235

Nexxon $110

Kumho Ku31 $150

Nanking NS2 $150

Maxxis MAV1 $129

Dunlop SP3000A $175

Silverstone EX08 ??EV08 $140

Bridgestone Supercat $160

Toyo T1R $200

225

Sumitomo HTR $170

Diamondback $132

Ideally I would like to keep it under $150..

Are Maxxis Tyres any good??

I am so confused. Any suggestions welcome. Need something with good grip and not noisy

ALso I am not sure if should go with 225 or 235s

thanks

If you are willing to go over $150 then the Toyo T1R's are a very good choice. The Silverstones are alright too for the money you pay. Some Maxxis tyres are good, but I dunno about that particular model you listed.

Also, I dunno what you're saying about them being only the fronts. Fronts are the ones taking most of the beating when you turn, so if you like taking corners at all I wouldnt skimp on those.

In general, you will find 235s to be cheaper than 225s, because they are a common size - not many cars take a 225.

I would suggest the B/S Supercats. The others may be cheaper, but they are "cheap". And you should not skimp on tyres - they are all that connect you and the car to the road.

I would go falken 452s like battery said, or the federal 595 if the falkens are too expensive. both are good performing tyres

after you installed the camber kits, did you get a wheel alignment? toe and camber both need to be OK to stop premature tyre wear

Thanks for the feedback guys. You are right the 235 are easier to get.

I realize the fronts are important, but you are correct, I should place more emphasis on them.

The Toyo's are a bit out of my price range. I noticed not much mention of the Dunlop sp3000A much on the forum. Are these any good. I am a dunlop fan from way back. Don't know about these ones though.

And Yes I did get a full wheel alignment done.

I go the Kumhos, I got them on that the moment and which cost about $230 each. I believe its a silica tyre, not to hard and not to soft in the perfomance range.

I had Nexens on before, nothing special, hard and is the cheap version of Bridgestone when I was told.

But before all that I had Yokohama E1's. Cost about $295 and preffer them for track use.

Nankang Ultrasport NSII. I've got em and they're great. Probably one of the best in a price/performance ratio.

As said 235/45 would be more common and cheaper/easier to get.

LOL!!! have u tried better tyres than those?

nankangs are prob one of the worst tyres ive ever used... no grip in the wet and just as poor in the dry.

if your gonna keep the car/wheels for awhile spend the money and get a decent set for the front... ive got yokohamas a-drive R1's cost me $250 a tyre in 235/40/18 so much grip!

go 2nd hand tyres

a good brand.

i usually pick up michellin's or pirelli's for about $80 a pop in those sizes with 70 or 80% tread on it.

IMO better than buying crap new tyres that dont wear and r like plastic matchbox wheels.

good tyres wear quickly.

I have the kumho's on my 300+rwkw 350z and i love them.

Its nice and grippy and i only get a little bit of wheel spin on 2nd gear when flooring it.

and the grip is great, esp for the price.

Yeah Nice!

You got Twin turbos too? Right..? :geek:

Hi Guys,

I decidecd to go with the Kumho's. Don't seem so bad so far. A lot better than what I had. Thankyou for all your opinions/suggestions. Was very helpful.

thanks

Nice choice mate!

All the best.

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
