3 is nothing

knock is the engine pinging or detonating etc...

the factory warning is set at 60, which is when the check engine light will flash on the dash...anything up to about 30 is ok. If it starts hitting over 30 you might want to get your tuner to look at the tune...

yeah. The mic can often pic up vibrations (not in the engine) and register high, keep driving and see if it's a once in a while thing or a common happening, if the later go see your tuner.

i got mine tuned by matty spry.

usually max knock i see is 18.

BUT when i redline it or go a tad over redline it shoots up to 60+...and the warning lite goes off, because he set it that way.

now he said "when u reach the redline or go over it the knock will shoot up. ignore it. its normal"

is THIS true?

The old knock reading mines been up to 133 & gets up to about 60 everyday but had ears on it with a knock detector & we hear nothing so yeah mine might registering my dog box or something else so i wouldnt worry about 3 lol. On start up knock may read a little high.

every time i hit limiter knock reads anywhere from 70 - 120. i try to stay off the limiter. Yes it is normal

go near red line in 4th or actually hit the limiter?

maybe the air is getting too hot and it is detonating a bit.

If your hitting the limiter ignore all knock readings from the limiter. remember stock limiter is 6900rpm.

when i reach limiter man. ahhh, well my limiter is set to 7300. that might be the problem. i will just need to hold back.

Hey guys, i wanted to set the rev cut to 7500 on mine, currently its at 8000.....how can i set it to 7500 on my hand commander, my tuner told me its really easy and somethingi can set up myself.

Also, i didnt know what it was set at before, and i was driving it hard once, and the car kind of jerked really badly (after going high reves, possible over 8000), was that my rev cut doing this, is it safe to hit rev cut...i guess its better than going over the rev i guess.......

Thanks:)

go to settings, then scroll to the last option which is rev. then hit the right arrow so the revs are highlighted then hit down arrow till it's down to what you want. then just hit back and go back to monitor mode or whatever you normally leave it in.

My Mates r33 would contantly register about 80knock on hard driving, the tune was spot on and great. Had a look in his engine bay and his sway bar had a massive dent in it from the intake hitting it, removed it and on full thrash he registered knock of 30. Big change.\

Knock is recorded as any metallic sound as in metal hitting metal, 3 is nothing.

Story pointless just a lil fyi

    • Man, different parts but the same numbers is terrible @dbm7! And it doesn't help that most online shops don't list the part numbers at all. They just give a list of compatible models...
    • Slow when hot could also be because its getting more dynamic compression, OR things are getting a bit tighter once it is all expanded. If it were an earthing issue, typically I'd expect you to have it have issues all the time. Unless it's really a combination of both things. Where the higher compression, and things being a bit tighter, is giving that bit of extra load and you do need a slight clean up on the cables/connections.
    • Yeah, this is one of the most annoying things about nissan part numbers... I've got an unrelated example... Image is of the AT output shaft ~ they have the same part#, but clearly the shaft on the left is beefier design to that on the right ...the difference (essentially) is the 'lighter' shaft on the right, is for engines up to RB25DE (this includes RB20 variants) : the shaft on the left is for RB25/26DET(T)....are they interchangeable? Yes...but obviously one shaft is going to be stronger than the other...and, the lighter shaft is around USD115, but the heavier shaft closer to USD150...same part#... ...epc-data usually tells a tale ~ the amayama listing for 39100-23U60 has a note "Longest side is between 60 and 105 cm" ; no such info is there for 39100-23U70 ...and given the great disparity in price between the 2 parts, it makes me at least curious (to the point of caution) where the 'extra money' went? ...ie; these 2 parts have a cost difference that (to myself at least) isn't explained by 'plastic boot'...ie; with amayama there's AUD700 price difference ...plastic versus rubber?...I'm not seeing it like that...and 60cm ~ 105cm...??...that's a huge disparity....something hinky going on here... I'd try searching by VIN, not model... /2cents
    • I don't know for sure, but I'd expect them all to be interchangeable given the diff end and hub end don't move/change between any C34 series. Often Nissan will change part numbers and the aftermarket follows those year ranges; but the original part number change doesn't mean other parts won't fit. The change could be a change in material, internal parts or even just supplier. For example, all the RB gearbox to engine bolts are no longer available and there is a new part number instead. The only change is they went from cadmium plated bolts to zinc plated due to the issues manufacturing with Cadmium. They look different but work the same.
