BTW, I've ordered one of the Gasweld ones @ $215 ( post-2420-1213223546_thumb.jpg ) so I'll give some feedback when I get it and try it out.

Won't be able to give feedback for a while since Gasweld are out of these jacks. Won't have any in stock until late August :(

I went and checked out that jack on sat, the saddle height is fine BUT the rear of the jack(143mm) is where u will have trouble esp if u want to reach under the front cross member.

I need i trolley jack that is under 125mm at its highest point.

I suggest we keep looking :domokun:

Regards

Trev

Hmmm, I was looking at this Omega jack was well on http://www.tradetools.com.au/Catalogue/Pro...tCode=GJLUQ1500 GJLUQ1500 jack, 63mm at lowest point but it's not super long.

Its cheaper than anything else I've found so far ($275 + postage to Vic) and the car is approx 13cm off the ground on the side skirts, do you think this could get to the cross member?

Or, is there anything better under $400?

UPDATE: Also found the "J041", from https://www.machineryhouse.com.au/Products?stockCode=J041# , its $229 incl GST, only 90mm off the ground but looks like its long 84cm and 51kg, they make a racing version https://www.machineryhouse.com.au/Products?stockCode=J042 but its shorter...

Note: I do know this thread is ancient but it still seems relevant.

Good Jack: https://www.machineryhouse.com.au/Products?stockCode=J041 It's actually a tradequip jack. Double pump too

not "super low" profile or light so best for the workshop (it's bigger than it looks)

The SPI never made it to production if anyone bothered to contact the Oz Dist.

I would also be dubious about supercheap Ally jacks as they've had so many recalls.................

Also a true ally "racing" jack will only be rated to about 900kg.

I found if the car was just a smidge too low for the jack, i'd just drive onto a peice of wood or wide paving brick under each wheel and that would gain enough height to get the jack under.

True, thanks for the info. Yes avoiding the supercheap auto jacks for now, I'm trying to buy quality.

Its for personal use, not a workshop, I only visit the track every 6months if I have the $$$ so I'm not too worried about weight (at the moment).

The second jack I mentioned can only support 1000kg, its 19.5kg and a little shorter than the first jack, its 74cm vs the 85cm.

As long as I can jack the car up and the jack will last a long time I'm happy :P

Also the price is very reasonable for both of them...

  • 2 weeks later...
part number is SNX1LLTJ

cost me $550

Interesting, had a quick look on the website and found it as ~$540 as you mentioned and supporting 1 tonne but that was it, no more info.

This old post, which does appear to the be the pictures of snap-on jacks we had earlier claim its most likely a re-branded Torin jack:

http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/688353

Probably this one:

http://www.torinjacks.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductId=10

In the end I bought:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1-5-TON-ALUMINIUM-R...%3A1|240%3A1318

Which appears to be the Torin 2 tonne low profile jack:

http://www.torinjacks.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17

Its not super low or super long, but its good enough, and its $330 with dual pump / dual piston design so I'm happy.

If you do search on ebay use the part number, and ensure you tick the "search description" button, the seller seems to list one every couple of weeks....

Probably not the ultimate jack but its reasonably priced and is ~82mm off the ground with some length (>70cm's ). And its 23kg so fairly lightweight.

Thanks,

Gareth
