Everyone would be welcome, but you need to remember that its the R32 turning twenty, so of course its going to be centred around them.

its not like you cant have newer models on display to show how much they progressed thanks to the racing calibre of the R32... well, how much they regressed after the 32 then progressed after 1998... LOL JOKES PEOPLE JOKES... 33s are great too... in their own special way :D

I'm in. If not at the mountain, then we should do it locally, Calder Park would be pretty easy to get for the day, plus that Cars show the Deiter Kuznitz hosts with Glen Ridge, is usually there testing cars out, maybe we could get them on board, We'd have nation wide coverage then.

a year to save on petrol would be plenty of money. Should have enough Go Fast juice, even at $2 a Litre, for a few tanks at least, plus there are plenty of servos close by.

if we were in some kind of alternate universe were everything was awesome and we were able to put together something fantastic we would go all out...

every skyline owner in Australia would come and we could like get pictures from a helicopter or google earth!

Call Neesan Nippon and say we want to put on a celebration for the 20th anniversary of the Nissan Skyline R32 GTR and they would be all like... omg you guys are awlsum...we will send over for your dispray a representativ of Neesan japan with a number of our dispray GTRs and even thlow in an R35 GTR race car for you all to have test drives in... arsehoooooole.

And then we would invite all the media... Skaife and all the other GTR drivers from yester year... and have the bathurst cars (again) there... and then and then... we would have the blue angels doing a display over our heads while we would all rock out to the sound track of Top Gun and Iron Eagle... and a massive fireworks display... and then there would be the massive orgy with the girls from the FHM magazines... but thats just for private members like myself... and no one else... unless there were other sexy mamacitas that were wanting to join in too... and then and then... omg my brains going to shut down!!!!

do it.... DOOOO IIIIIIT!!!

Calder is cheap which is why i suggested it.

calder's not that cheap anyway, if we wanted cheap we could use winton.

also, i know its hard, but can we stay on topic please.

i am serious about this, i want something to hapen so keep the good (sensible) ideas rolling in.

cheers.

What else is there to do? We've got the mega cruise idea to Mount Panorama, a track day somewhere (don't know how this relates to the GTR's 20th...), a photo shoot of only R32 GTRs lined so we could take a photo of it from air and you'll be able to see Godzilla himself. :D We'll need a car park big enough though. Unless we have 20 GTRs lined up to celebrate the 20 years.

Man, that is the BEST freaking idea I've ever read. All you need to add is Mexican hat's and free Margarita's! :D

Well that was useless dribble.

Don't like calder then use Sandown.

Calder is cheap which is why i suggested it.

Oh I know, we could have it at Drag tag then you could take down you VL moite!

YEAH FULL SICK!! My VL would own u all!!! ALLLL!!!!

lol u f*ktard

dont mean to be rude or anything.... but who the f**k are u again?

who is Iron Eagle

An attempt at being as cool as Top Gun with even better actors and jets... must rent... go to blockbuster now!

OMG how could i forget margaritas and sombreros!!! lets go one step further and have Elvis the helicopter constantly flying over and raining down that heavenly mexican juice non stop! Then the blue angels could dump the salt and lemon juice... altho that could hurt a lot if you had open wounds or looked up at the wrong time.

haha yes... give me responsability for all your cruises, meets and track days... its what the world needs.. for real :)

on a lighter note... the only way to truely celebrate it is as mentioned, at the mountain itself, which would be awesome if we lived in an ideal world. That way guys from NSW, QLD, SA and VIC would be more likely to show up. If your truely serious about this you will need to get on to it pretty dam quick and rather then just spouting ideas out on a forum, create a committee from each state and assign each person a set commitment such as media liason, location, events and some form of publicist to get the word out in other ways such as advertising. Because the only way your going to be able to do anything remotely special is with the backing of sponsors and for that you will need to prove that you can get masses there who will be spending monies.

otherwise all your going to end up with is about 20 people in a carpark somewhere mulling around looking at cars taking photos with their 2mp camera phones asking how much boost your blowup valve runs.

Wow, 13 posts and begging to be flamed.

Yes I only have 13 posts (14 now) but who cares, you were yourself once ot my post count. I don't care if I get flamed either, words are just that, WORDS. I was just putting my ideas there like everyone else, except mine were actually useful rather than durrogatory. Flame away....

YEAH FULL SICK!! My VL would own u all!!! ALLLL!!!!

lol u f*ktard

dont mean to be rude or anything.... but who the f**k are u again?

I'm obviously a newb nobody cos I don't have 1000 or more posts yet. Don't mind me I'll just sit in the corner and lick the windows seeing as I am a "f*ktard."

Anyway back on topic... If there was to be no "National meet point" and it were just a state by state thing, then in Vic if Calder was out, wakefield could work, or heathcote park. Maybe could use the pits at Albert park, would make a good photo. Coburg Drive-in has a big enough car park for a few hundred cars, Bundoora park usually hold car shows for hot rods and the like so maybe we could have it there, it's pretty central.

I Agree with inark though, in the fact that we need to have some sort of structure, media liasons etc are def needed to get quality photos and coverage. The major mags need to be contacted, Motor, Wheels, HPI, Speed (do they still produce this?) Pitty the c-word isn't on anymore. Could write to SBS and see if Top Gear Australia wants in on it??

Anyways I'll be sure to bite my tongue before I write my next post.

and so u should... window licker :D maybe its cause i simply own a full sick VL which you assume is the only car ive ever owned or likely to own even though ive been a part of this forum since it was created.

why have you written off somewhere like Sandown which if it was to be a VIC only thing is probably closer for a lot of people then somewhere like heathcote or wakefield? Like i said if you did it properly i couldnt see any reason why you couldnt get a major venue like that to hold it.

    • I will rebutt this and the preceding point from Dose....but without doing any calcs to demonstrate anything and without knowing that I am right or wrong. But... The flow capacity of a fluid transfer system is not limited by the smallest orifice or section of conduit in that system, unless it is drastically smaller than the rest of the system. OK, I use the word drastically perhaps with too much emphasis, but let's drill down on what I really mean. The flow capacity of the system is the result of the sum of the restrictions of the entire system. So, to make an extreme example, if you have a network with 3" pipe everywhere (and let's say a total length of only a few metres) and that 12mm ID restriction of the oil filter connection being the obvious restriction, then for any given amount of pressure available, the vast majority of all the pressure drop in the system is going to occur in the 12mm restriction. But.... increase the length of the 3" pipeline to, say 1000m, and suddenly the pipe pressure loss will likely add up to either be in the same order of magnitude, possibly even exceeding that of the 12mm restriction. Now the 12mm restriction starts to matter less. Translate this to the actual engine, actual oil cooler hose sizing, etc etc, and perhaps: The pressure loss caused by flowing through the narrow section (being the 12mm oil filter port, and perhaps any internal engine oil flow pathways associated with it) is a certain number. The pressure loss through, say, -12 hoses out to the cooler and back is negligible, but The pressure loss through -10 hoses out to the cooler, at the exact same length as the above, starts to become a decent fraction of the loss through the 12mm stuff at the filter port. Maybe even it starts to exceed it. I could actually do these calcs if I knew 1) how much oil was actually flowing in the line, 2) gave enough of a f**k to do things that I hate doing for work, voluntarily for a hypothetical discussion. Anyway - I reiterate. It's not the narrowest port that necessarily determines how much it can all flow. It is the sum. A long enough length of seemingly fat enough pipe can still cause more loss than a semmingly dominant small bore restriction.
    • To pick up what Dose is putting down. Not a lot of point running a huge hose if the motor is still restricted to the smaller size... It's only capable of flowing so much at that point...   *Waits for GTSBoy to come in and bring in the technicalities of length of pipe, and additional restriction from wall friction etc etc*
    • Hooley Dooley these things have some history! If i sell them they will need a certificate of providence to prove they have been in the hands of verified RB20 royalty! They have been stored in a plastic tub, away from sunlight and moisture. They are in mint condition. And they will stay that way, as i have sprung the money for a set of shockworks coilovers. I'm just working on getting them in at the moment, after rebushing the rear of the car, and while the subframe was out i welded in the GKtech reinforcement bracing as well.  They will get a workout at Ararat King of The Hill in November. I ran 48s on the short course there a few months ago, and i am hoping with new bushes and shocks in the rear i can launch a bit harder. There was a fair bit of axle tramp when i tried too hard off the line. a few of the corners had dips mid way which also made the car feel a bit unsettled, hopefully this will help there too.
    • Food for thought, the stock oil filter thread is a 3/4-16 UNF, which has an ID of about 10 to 12mm (according to ChatGPT lol). Now compare than to an 10AN, which has an ID of about 14mm (Raceworks is 14.2mm, Speed flow is 14.27mm).
    • Yep, totally get that. However hooking in for Generator back up is only a few hundred bucks for the wiring. You could put a couple of those in (for different circuits explicitly) and run a couple of baby generators. Bonus, you can balance them across different circuits, and now have backups in your backup. I'm looking at buying places that won't even have water etc, and I don't mind the idea of getting off the electric grid either, even with everything you've said. This country already has enough power outages that even the mains grid isn't that reliable anymore. I do agree though on spending a bit more to get better gear, and to add some extra redundancy in to the system too.
