Hiya All,

Was driving home the other day into Picton and I was pulled over for a RBT... I went out fine and my mate in the car behind me was flagged in... Next thing I know is he is pulled over in front of the RBT station (I crapped myself thinking he got done for DUI).

Turns out the copper asked him to lick his stick! HEHEHE.,.... They have a new test for Pot, apparantly you lick a stick and they can test it to see if you've been smoking pot...!!??!?!?!?! What the? Good idea I think but i've never heard of it!

Anyone know how it works? or had experience licking sticks? :P

How long has it been in effect for? First time I have ever heard of it happening... There was something in the media about 6-12 months ago, but i never took any real notice as it didnt seem to be occuring a lot? what are they tagging them? RDTs?

i thought they had to have their drug testing van to do those tests , and that they only have 3 vans in the whole of nsw

Hi there :D

Heres the low down :

Random Drug Tests

* Drug Driving

* DUI Driving Drug

* Prescribed Illicit Drug

Division 3A of the Road Transport (Safety and Traffic Management) Act 1999 was inserted and became effective on 15 December, 2006 and gave police power to carry out "Oral Fluid Testing" of drivers for the purpose of testing for the presence of illicit drugs. Such test is carried out at the roadside by police where the driver is required to lick the test pad of the preliminary testing device in order to detect the presence of a prescribed illicit drug. If this test proves "positive" the driver will be required to undergo a second screening test in a police drug testing support vehicle at the scene. If this second DUI test proves positive, the driver will be prohibited from driving for 24 hours and the remaining oral fluid sample from the second test will then be sent off to the Government Analytical Laboratory for analysis. If that result comes back positive, then the driver can expect a Court Attendance Notice to attend court and be prosecuted.

The definition of illicit drugs simply means cannabis, speed, base, ice (amphetamine),ecstasy and can be any combination of these.

Section 18B(1) of the Road Transport (Safety and Traffic Management) Act 1999 permits police to require a driver to undergo one or more oral fluid tests for prescribed illicit drugs.

Section 18B(2) creates an offence for a driver to "refuse or fail to undergo the oral fluid test in accordance with the directions of the officer".

It is an offence if an illicit drug is detected as being present (see Driving with the presence of prescribed illicit drugs) and police can arrest and take the person to a police station or other prescribed premises in order to carry out the necessary tests on the person, whether it be obtaining a further oral sample for analysis (s.18D) or sample of urine or blood.

If a blood or urine test discloses the presence of Heroin / Cocaine, then this legislation also provides for prosecuting for the presence of these drugs also.

Pretty much covers the lot !!

So if you dont mind the odd "bucket bong" "joint" "line" "snort" "tab" "pinger" "cap" "bomb" "chase" "hit" or "shot" !! ;)

Not a good idea if youre also in command of the odd couple of hundred kilowatts at the rear wheels !

Cheers malcolm :)

Cannabis, speed, speed, speed, mostly speed, but let's not forget speeding. Kills more people than Atilla the Hun!

so what that's saying is any cop car can do the lipstick test, but the results has to be confirmed by either the drug support van (of which i'm pretty sure there's only 3 in nsw) or be taken to the nearest police station/facility for a second fluid/blood/urine test, correct?

it also IMO leaves a fair bit of a grey area. what about passive smoke? what about drink spiking or someone claiming they're drink was spiked? when does the law decide when your sober?

btw i don't do drugs and drive. i'm already paranoid enough as it is about being pulled over for driving a modified vehicle. i'm just amazed it took so long for the cops to introduce these tests.

do the sensible thing everyone....

trip balls, peak off your face, smack out, chew your face off, get the munchies in the back of a taxi!

well said!! adelaide is usually behind on all this sorta stuff but we have stations set up specifically for drug testing(well it is adelaide hahah) any time anywhere... like were talking 9:00 am on a wednesday... who the hell is wake and baking on a wednesday.. let alone mungin their face off

This is taken from the link that sl!m provided

Driving with the presence of cocaine or morphine (heroin)

There is also an offence of driving with the presence of cocaine or morphine (heroin) in blood or urine (unless the morphine was taken for medicinal purposes).

WTF so it is "ok" to be smacked out behind the wheel as long as it is for medical purposes

dumb dumb

Anyone that has not got 100% concentration on the task at hand (driving) should not be on the roads.

Taking drugs doesn't mean you won't have 100% concentration, otherwise it seems like a lot of drivers must b on something, just look around at how bad some people drive :D

It seems most people with imports drive a lot better than the general public, i have more near misses with stock standard anythings that imports

ive been tested twice cause i have a problem with my eyes n shit. 1st time i hadnt touched anythin and i got done, had a blood test and got off, second time i was off chops and got off.... i think that says it all

Well you've just increased everyones respect for you... Admitting to driving under the influence of drugs aye?

I think the testing is a great idea, much in the same way a RBT is a good idea. As long as it doesnt turn into a random defect bay for us, I think it can only do good things for society.

I was only saying that it isnt all that accurate, i know it isnt the smartes thing to drive when your stoned, but how many people here have driven home drunk before? Dont judge me when you dont know me, cause im sure your not perfect behind the wheel.

The fact that the test isnt accurate not what I was saying. Dont know anyting about that, but i'm sure its not.

Driving home stoned or drunk aint a smart idea, its dangerous. I'm not a saint behind the wheel, and never claimed to be one. Do i speed in school zones? Hell no, kids can dart out in an instant. Do i do 120km/hr on the highway, sure i do...

Do i drive home drunk, or under the influence of anything other drug? Hell no, because it impairs judgement, and maybe then i would do something un-saint-like and cause someone injury, well at least the chance of it happening increases...

Like anything though, you pay your money you take your chances.

    • Had another look at the car and I noticed the fuel pump isn't priming on ignition. I'd taken out the pump from the boot to siphon out the old fuel, so maybe I've knocked something loose or broken a wire putting things back together. Will go back with a multimeter and try to work out what's stuffed. Kinda hoping it's the pump itself thats gone so I can upgrade it
    • Yeah agreed, you can't assume that shop are they only people who ever had to work on it. It was just a guess on the mods based on how things were done back then. You can check the Air Flow Meters by the part number on their tags, they are likely either Z32 or Nismo ones (both read about the same but the Z32 one is a little larger while nismo is stock size but supports the higher airflow like a Z32). And yes, all that would get you to 450hp / 340kw To tell what is happening with the turbos, you want a photo of the tag on the core, that will say what it was made out of  (they can retain the front and rear covers to make the plumbing easier)
    • I'm selling my personal race car. 1992 BNR32 Skyline GT-R About eight years ago the engine developed the dreaded low oil pressure problem. I removed it and found the issue. However shortly after I moved half way across the country, moved my work shop, bought a house, got married, then moved my shop again to it's permanent location for the time being. in turn I do not have the time to race this car as it should be. In turn the engine I built for this car will end up in my street car and this car I hope finds a home with someone who can use it to it's full potential. The roll bar was built by Jason Noren Fabricaiton in Pomona California to SCCA and NASA Specs. The car used to compete in redline time attack and global time attack enthusiast class. It also has a fire suppression system.  The car is with me at my workshop in Kyle Texas, USA. Shipping it is no problem, I can personally deliver the car to the port of either Houston or Los Angeles. Any other port depending on where it is may require transport but we can always work that out.   The chassis itself is rust free, rear quarters and under fenders are free of any rust so it's a very solid foundation for anyone who wishes to move forward with it. As posted and at the asking price of $20,000 USD the car includes all of the following;   All OEM Body panels, front fenders, rear bumpers etc.  OEM Nissan Projector headlamps (Pictured N1 lamps were removed) OEM Nismo Side Skirts / Extensions OEM Rear Spats  Front & Rear Subframes are installed car is full roller Rear Subframe has Cusco Camber Arms, Whiteline HICAS Elimination Front Subframe has Whiteline tension rods and whiteline Sway bars w/ endlinks.  Buddy Club N1 Coilovers All chassis wiring and engine wiring is in tact. Attessa System is fully in tact and was functional before engine removal.  BCNR33 GT-R Brembo Brakes F+R with Endless MX72 Plus Pads, DBA Rotors & Stainless Steel Brake lines Billion Racing Radiator Billion Radiator Hoses Fluidyne Engine Oil Cooler Accusump System (trunk Mounted) 5 Speed Transmission w/ Transfer Case F+R Prop-shafts Rear Differential With rear Axles.  Nismo Gauge Cluster Nismo Clutch + Flywheel   Essentially what is needed to make this car running and driving again is as follows: A working Engine, an ECU, and time to put it together. The price posted is or best offer as I am willing to remove some components to accommodate price to a certain extent. If any serious buyer wants full detailed pictures, videos, or any questions I'll be happy to answer them. I believe this car is priced to move quickly considering it's a rust free and very straight chassis but always open to fair negotiation.  I can be contacted via phone or email. • So...to my (and my mechanics doing the swap) surprise...the oil pan from NEO engine does not fit 100% and needs to by modified like this: It is not a huge problem but in the future i want a "proper" oil pan. So question is...what different oil pan can i get to fit without any problems and modification? Thanks!
    • Some more info I found.  These are the last entries Yoshikiyo Fujii made on his blog before he passed away in 2009: http://blog.livedoor.jp/fujii_dynamics/ And finally this is where the workshop was situated:  https://maps.app.goo.gl/HhTPtHzt3WVcBTiEA
