Hey dudes

Say i want to run about 1-1.2bar. Ive got a tial 44mm wastegate on order but they say there will be a 2 week delay on the .9 bar spring. Alternatively, they have the .6 bar ready to go right now.

Would I be best waiting to get the spring closest to my desired boost level or would anything work so long as I have a decent boost controller setup?

Cheers,

Ryan

What boost controller do you intend to use to bleed off the rest of the boost?

Regardless, 0.6bar above spring pressure shouldn't be difficult for any controller (manual bleed or [well setup] EBC) from my experience.

i would go with the .6

it means that you will run a minimum of .6 and up to how ever much u want.

where as if u got the .9bar thats like 1bar anyway. so the minimum you can run is 1bar of boost. which is proberly a bit shit cuz u got no choice in how much u run.

i say get the .6, but if u plan to run even more boost later on, stick with the .9

You won't be able to boost as much as you want. Your boost controller can only go so much over what the spring naturally opens at. It depends on a few factors like how strong your boost controller is and some other stuff. Ballpark, I doubt you'll be able to go much over 1.3-1.4 bar on the .6 bar spring, if that much.

i'd wait for the .9bar spring, but in all honesty a decent boost controller will be able to run a lot more than the base pressure.

My old setup had a .5bar spring and i was running a fairly stable 20-21 psi for dyno duties (1 psi drop over the run) with an old blitz dsbc.

Depending on the mounting location of the wastegate though, they aren't really hard to change. If it was a matter of keeping my project off the road for a few weeks, I'd throw the .6 spring in there. If it's a couple of days though, or the wastegate is a pain in the ass to get too, wait for the .9 spring.

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
