it should be 12v. But if you won't don't connect pin 3 and see if it boots. If not then connect it.

The accessory just turns the GTR badge on the screen, then full boot when ignition. but i am sure you need it to work.

Okay I think I have found the problem, seems like removing the cracked laminate from the front of the screen made the screen show totally white. I have ordered a polarized laminate film to replaced the cracked film I had before hopefully it helps the visibility problem I am having. I found a similar problem on gtr.co.uk,

One question I have I am seeing the diagnostic mode sequence on the manual and it shows all 15 sensors that can be monitored, I would really like the oil pressure signal. Has this ever been done or is it on certain model MFDs that this can be accessed? I have a V-Spec MFD BTW and here is the pic in question.

I've just been installing the MFD as of last night - and have a bit of a question:

So far I've only installed the power/acc/ign, 3 gauge cluster wires (illumination/oil temperature/boost) & dash wires (water/oil pressure) - next up is the wires from the ECU (speed, injector duty, revs, throttle position) -- but on doing a test power-up to make sure everything is fine, only water temp seems to be showing up. I've tried running the diags to test sensors, and even then whilst it seems to detect sensors, nothing is really coming up besides water temp - boost just sits at 0. I've checked, double-checked, and triple checked the conncetions. Does anyone know if this is normal?

I'm wondering if maybe it's needing the inj/speed/throttle sensors from the ECU before it'll initialise the other sensors properly? I'm hoping that's the case anyway. Ah well, I guess I'll put in the remainder of the ECU wiring and see what happens. Otherwise, I'll be trying to track down whether it's a grounding problem or something else weird.

Fingers crossed this unit isnt a dud (it came from a working car) - I can't imagine how much it would cost to repair :P

Well - that solves that - and is a warning / informational thing for anyone else wiring one of these up - your sensors, etc won't display properly until the ECU sensors are all hooked up too (injector/throttle/speed/rpm).

MFD is now working beautifully :(

If you follow the wiring diagram that Purpleline made. The one i put the link to then your oil pressure sensor will be detected. But the only way to have it on the display is to buy the Nismo upgrade at about $900 to $1400 and this will then give you upgraded Boost to 2BAR and replace throttle position with Oil pressure.

Also adds the G meter lap time and data logger etc. (these only work in GTR)

Does anyone have the wiring for the Intake and EXT sensors for the MFD. I have the Intake sensor and the EXT on order and as I have the Vspec model I have access to them. Just need to have both wired to have them functionable on the MFD unit. Thanks and also got my MFD working proper so weekend it is going in and also going to have the wires for the EXT and Intake run as well.

Why do you say it will only work in a GTR?

The lap timer is only a switch button to add, data logger comes with the kit.

The thing I would like to know is the G meter working in a GTT with the nismo kit?

Anyway thanks for the post it helped me when I was stuck with the yellow error message (it was because I haven't wired the ACC +. The screen displays exactly the same message when the ignition is not on and when you press a button)

it wasnt easy, we were a bit confused when we 1st wired it up and got this error message.

A question for those who have done it - how has anyone hooked up the GTR intake sensor on the GTR?

It doesn't use a bung as in the exhaust temperature sensor, it screws in - which leaves me wondering how you would mount this up, and especially in such a way that it seals it up against pressure leaks, etc.

Very interested to hear back from those who have done it ....

Lol I just freaked out tonight, thinking my MFD unit is stuffed, when my boost stays at 0, but it made me feel better after reading what you said, so now I'll wire up the ECU tomorrow and see how that goes :)

Hey guys, I've just hooked up my MFD, but I have a question, how come it only picked up the first 4 sensors? Boost, throttle, oil temp and water temp? It doesn't say it picked up the other sensors, but I know my rev light works. Because isn't there like 15 sensors all up? Including some GTR ones (I know I won't get int and ext temp), but others. Cheers!

Alright, finally done.

It took me a couple of days per my battery dying and a couple blown fuses. I received a lot of help from a dude named Dan on GTROC:

I didn't want the whole install to be very messy so I bought some items from a local electronics store and a Radio Shack.

I don't have a picture of the functioning MFD but you get the idea. I tapped into the wires that the MFD needed to function properly and labelled them as well.

A few sensors still aren't working. For example, my MFD isn't reading INJECTOR but my Apex AVC-R is. Ironically, they're both plugged into the SAME ECU wire. I'll assess that some other weekend.

What sort of a stupid comment is that :rolleyes:

I know for my own MFD install it was a case of either:

i) find an electronic device that displayed multiple gauges. A few options here none of them particularly cheap. Still left with triple gauge cluster - what's the point?

ii) Replace triple gauges, install additional gauges to try and get a good idea of what's going on

iii) Simply just install an MFD - a device which hooks up perfectly, doesnt cost the earth, isn't defectable and displays multiple gauges without any dramas.

Seems like a pretty obvious choice to me. Feel free to explain why you feel so strongly about this view.

    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
