they are here...car just ran 7.96 @ 176.6 MPH...full report on the run to come
right...the 60' was 1.27 so up there but not quite a PB. Mark hit the limiter in 1st so even quicker times are on the cards in the finals tomm. Car was gunbarrel straight and in the groove the whole run with a 1/2 track MPH of 141. MPH shows 7.80's are achieveable in the eliminators tomm.

This makes the car the 3rd fastest GTR in the world and the quickest 2.6ltr RB 26 in the world.

Awesome!! Congrat guys!!

any video yet of the pass??? The passes we saw at wsid the other week were good, but i'd love to see it shooting off in a straight line and not wanting to wander!!

Mark backed it up with a 7.97 @ 163mph again today.

The car was all over the track on this run and about 40mtrs before the line the crank angle sensor shat itself, hence the low MPH. Was a low 7.80 pass and was looking like a 180 MPH TS. Car was towed back to the pits and is yet to be assesed. Big backfire and no boost at the end of the run when it happened so it must have damaged something.

but a highly sucessful weekend anyway with back to back 7.90's

Great stuff! Being the quickest RB26 in the world is definitely something to brag about.

Yeah, if they can go a little quicker they will be able to too :D The mid/high 7s RWD Sentra from the States is still 2.6

How much sentra is left tho?

Congrats to Mark and godzilla doing us proud

It takes nothing at all from Mark and crews achievement due to it being a drag chassis but it still doesn't change that the car was running a rb26 so no one can claim faster rb26 until they beat its time.

I would be extremly surprised if the Sentra was running a stock stroke crank and STD 86mm bore.

Mark's crank is a straight out of the box Nissan R33 item, and the engine was built by himself, Justin and Harry overnight after a failure during qualifing, and backed up the next day to run 8.274 to knock Croydon out of top spot in Aust. What an effort!

Still the fastest RB26 GTR whatever the overpowered American hairdresser's car ran.

Why would you be surprised? I would be surprised if Mark's car was running the stock stroke crank if I didn't know the car. And the bore, well, I doubt anyone runs the stock bore any more. lol

I didn't know there was a record for std bore as well!

well extremely surprised is an understatement...im gobsmacked

this is some of the parts claimed to be used in the Sentra...

stock block

stock connecting rods

stock pistons

stock head gasket

stock cylinder head

stock cams

stock cam gears

stock timing belt

stock crank

stock intake manifold(slightly modified)

Why is the rest of the world spending $20K+ building tough race long engines...the 'seppo's' are running high 7's with a long engine you can pick up in a wrecking yard!

Adrian you know more than anyone that drag racers have records for everything :D

GTR World Record Run.

The car IS running an RB26DETT, but certainly not stock....

Yeah I wasn't going to say it, but its certainly true. 2.6litres is certainly very very impressive though given its not the original engine spec, the fact that its not rounded to 2.7, 2.8 or whatever litres is pretty academic. I personally wouldn't want to taint the sheer awesomeness of the achievement Mark and crew have done by making up world records for it when the short of it is it is one of 3 GTRs in the world who have managed a 7 after years and years of top tuners and big spenders making huge efforts to do so.

Its an epic achievement and its clear that it could still go faster. Top effort guys :)

Great news that you managed to back the 7 sec run up guys

I have no idea how long or when the season runs over in Aus - have you got many more chances to get back out again to drop it further?.

As others have said you join a very very very special list of cars & you must be over the moon that all the years, blood sweat & tears & all of the hard earned expense now seem well rewarded.

We will bust our guts to try & get our car to join you in the club this year but no guarantees.

Would love to see a huge worldwide event in the future say 2010 where all the cars come together for a weekend - would be incredible.

Hope you enjoy a few beers !! :(

    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
    • There's not a great deal to report here .... except ...... FOR .... LSD!!!  I bought a Quaife LSD from the UK and shipped it here .... Wish I'd just bought locally cause the shipping and duty was $700! But there were so many diffs used in the E90s I just wanted to be absolutely certain I was getting the right one so I spoke with a supplier in the UK who builds race cars and they have heaps of experience with the E90s.  I pulled the diff out which was seriously awesome - I've never done anything like that before, I must have watched 1000 videos on YT about it as well as consulting the Bentley manual. It was super easy in the end. The diff was delivered to the awesome folks at Hornsby Diffs and will be back in a few weeks. I also replaced the diff bushings with some Nolathane ones.  Really looking forward to getting it back and getting back to the track or even the skidpan.
    • yeah... the 13kg/mm springs weren't always in there, I had 10kg/mm but doing a few SMSP commanded heavier front springs. It's so good now going into T1 and T2, just need more seat time and real tyres.
