Hey,

In General section there have been many threads on this issue.

Please use search function next time :D

btw - everyone is different. what you pay, what the next person pays is different. No one will pay the same so there really is no point asking what others pay.

Age, driving experience, claims history, fines/loss of licences, garaging location, usage, no claims bonus, EVERYTHING is different :D

edit - just saw your in Bankstown....there is half your answer!

What's your driving history like? I must admit, normally, if it is modified, and you're under 25, it's your only choice...

and you should have done insurance already man, I know you have the car, I don't want to see it being another one of those "My car got stolen" threads :D

Also, listen to Mr Weevil, I see him reading, he knows his insurance :D

Hey guys.

Just did a quote on JUSTCAR and got $4711 for comprehensive!!

For gods sake what the hell !!

How much does your's cost and where from!

MRXTCZ

How old are you? any accident history?

I'm 21, no accidents (except when I hit a 'roo, which they don't count as my fault) and with Shannons. They were about $1100 for full comp, with a $900 excess... that's on my stockish R33 in Melbourne, covered for $12,000. Just Cars were gonna about $1500/year... When I got the 'line I had just turned 19 and it was around $1900/yr, with a $1800 excess... but at the time I figured Shannons wouldn't touch me (age) and didn't even try. This year when my insurance came around a mate recommended me to give them a go, and they were fantastic!

...and your in Vic...much cheaper there....as I said...

When i moved up to Sydney from Melbourne (3 years ago), i was shocked at the insurance costs up here. I had a 2003 Integra Type R.

Insurance in melbourne was $500. When i moved to sydney (wiley park, which is even worse than bankstown) >$4000. When they gave me the quote, I nearly had a heart attack.

So i told them thanks but no thanks, got married, sold the car and had kids. hahaha.

edit: now for some actually helpful info, i was quoted about $2200 for comp insur through just car, and slightly higher for shannons (shannons wants a longer driving history - 4 years as opposed to just cars 3 years)). If you've got suspensions in your history, expect to get charged a big premium

Best insurance company is famous for imports.

LOL, You could take that a few ways, and i did :D Here's a tip

The company is not called 'Best Insurance', famous for its import insurance

It wasn't a statement that the best insurance company is famously known for imports.

The company is CALLED 'famous'.

I'm not slow, ok?

currently with Just cars 3rd party fire and theft only. $600 something

changing to Shannon's in November $1376 a year for $12000. excess wasn't much.

with Shannon's i was told the car needs to be in a lock up garage when at home address

and because my bad driving history was more then 5yrs ago im all sweet. So nothing

to worry about or no extra charges.

Oh yeh and thats on a partially driven car rate.

i was told to add 6-700 ontop if it was a daily driver.

im 25 on full license and located at Doonside.

Goodluck with it,atleast get 3rd party.

+ a Thumbs up to the dude at Shannon's. :D

i'm sorry mate but this whole excercise is pointless. even if everyone post up how much they pay it doesn't help you one bit, unless you live in the same house as them, are the same sex, the same age, put your car in the same garage, drive the same number of kms, have the same model of car, with the same modifications, the same alarm and have the exact same driving history. unless you can say yes to all those things then your quote will most likely be different.

just shop around, call as many companies as you can. and be honest about your driving history and your circumstances.

Im just going to add dont use famous.. Go GIO car insurance you can use the car however you wish as long as your not under the influence or doing anything illegal and your covered.

Most other policies only cover you 1 day a week, only parked in particular areas, no street parking etc. Read the whole policy before you take it out and as for a faxed copy of the transcript when you take out the policy and ask heaps of questons.

That's most insurance companies..

thats it :D

eg: you say to your insurance company you drive 1 days a week, garaged at a certain location etc etc, you sleep over your girlfriends house and have no choice but to park on the street, car gets stolen and you go to make a claim, your insurance company wont pay you out

? what do you mean? Most companies dont cover you for daily use? Didnt I just say that? Thats why I suggested GIO.

Sorry, I was too lazy to make a proper reply. Most insurance companies will tell you they won't insure you overnight unless you are 500m or more away from the garage location. They won't cover you if you don't have a proper alarm etc.. and they definatly won't cover you if you are under the influence of alcohol and drugs or breaking any laws. It covers there arse.

I have been quoted through GIO but they wouldn't cover me for more then 9k but there policy was the cheapest ($1200) or something like that. Famous have done the best deal besides Shannons and I can't change to Shannons at the moment as we have a communal garage.. and they know my every move *hides*

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
