Im going all aftermarket on my green p's ass, im spraying mine blue!!! might add a few Kw to the wheels... im hopping so anyhow :P

Man i think its kinda stupid that we get them....like you'd think it would be easier for us to retain our P plates (red) and just give the new ones to the newer p platers. I don't know how this is going to come out on the back of my tinted windows either. Might not even show.

Im doing one of the 6 steps involved aswell! im writing a letter on my Red p's and sending it into Vic roads to tell them just how much they suck balls.

Hate Vic roads with a passion.....i don't know if anyone else is with me on that, but i had alot of bad run ins with them, and yeh....just absolutely dogs balls service and they all look like they been poppin bikkies the night before when you see em working (down at south oakliegh anyhow)

Just my 2 cent's...

Think i might put up my old L's my red P's and my Green ones jus to confuse the shit out of everyone, cause i pretty much am dead set confused, i know we retain the old laws...but when the new p's for 1st of July and after drivers come out...what do they get after the first year is over????!!!!! (since they have 4 years) do they get green p's too!? (like NSW)...but thing is even then, they still have newer laws when they'll be on greenies....which makes no sense, therefore will there be 3 types of P plates now ????!! gah.... :( someone at vic roads needs to be publically excecuted for this.

ER3425GT: hey i think u need to take a chill pill and relax lol, just wait till u off ur Ps then all this doesnt apply to ya it go past like nothin trust me, till then save cash for mods till u off ur Ps. thats what i did cant change anything and they wont listen because too many P platers do too many things and this whats happens the change the laws and be more strict, like last week sore a 180 P plater hit a pole tryna drift onto hallam belgrave from the stops and lost control and bang ambulance and cops were there dont know full detail but there was a 180 with P plates. things like this is why they change the rules. anyone can comment on this if im right or wrong

Don't get me wrong, i can wait, i don't mind, and i am saving up, i wanna do LS1 V8 conversion with the decompression and add twin turbo set up. (something diff) and i am getting qouted for it as we speak. Should be around 15 thous to do which gives me time to build the engine then when i put it in i can work on tranny, diff, clutch, looms, all the rest of it....blah blah

I just hate vic roads..its not that they introduced these p's its the fact that they confuse the living crap out of everyone..they do not makr anything clearly..and their website is utter crap...when approaching cops at police station even they don't know what vic roads is up to, the only people that have any idea is highway patrol which i was lucky enough to ge tpulled over by and loose all my points...anyhow im sitting on 1 point after going to court for hitting a tree in my old 34...it wasnt my fault and i admit i had bad judgment and lack of control (aka why i did defensive driving courses and became much wiser when i drive than mos tother p platers)

Thing is i got done for ruining my own car...at 2 am in carrumn downs...i didnt drive over the limit...i just had my traction control switch off, wet thin cheap tyres (below stock grading) and just slipped from underneath me on a turn, i admit to not taking the turn well either.....

But still the cops came couldnt do anything and 3 months later BANG i have to go to court for wreckless driving!!! ridiculous no one else was with me...no one saw...no one was harmed nothing! even an investigator that was an ex cop could not find anything wrong at the scene and therefore my insurance paid me i lost 5G's and i bought another skyline that se me back....

I then went and redid my p plate test to get manuals cause i felt like auto was rubbish and i didnt have the same control i did with manual (long story why i didnt get manuals in first place, had cancer comming out of yr 12)

but yeh....they don't go easy on you, and i did the right thing, i was in a non turbo...i did everything asked...i didnt buy a GTT (which is same price) and still got shat all over by vic roads.

now i have passenger restrictions (fair enough) no points i drive with 1 point given to me for 12 months i had my licence suspended, and for what? it didnt teach me anything other than to not call the cops and tell them that you crashed....cause they make shit up....And all they can follow are vic road laws for p platers...this is why i despise these laws. There are real dipshits on the roads, and we all know that that do ridiculous stuff, and half of them get away with literally dangerous and unsafe driving EVERYDAY....

I have nothing against what you said i thought id bring more light to the matter of why i posted my first comment though :( Sorry for the long ass story.

compared to u im an old bugger. back in the day when i had p's, i thought they sucked! then got full license. then a few more years experience. then sat my truck license. after that, DAMN car licensing is WAAY too easy. yea vicroads is gettin tougher but thats only cos too many young ppl that are on p's are killin themselves and or their passengers. i know, im a rescue worker.

not gonna say sucked in to you guys. its sucks big wang for havin so many restrictions placed on ya. yet if others around you had taken it easier and weren't showin off to their mates or tryin to cut ppl off cos its fun, then hey this wouldnt have happened.

My 2c

haha P platers in their non turbos.

At least when I was on my Ps you could drive what you want (power to weight ratio wasn't really enforced.)

Not sure if it is now (as we have 2 sets of P Platers)

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
