i have a 32 gtr,

now on wendsday i took it to eastern creek and posted a top time of 11.7 at 115mph, with only a exhaust and 13psi boost, stock turbos, stock ecu

i was wrapt....

before this i could always noitce somthing like a choking feeling while the engine was reving out, and you could notice the torque loss, not massivly, but abit......

this was more only during the day time, during night it would run mad.... i put that down to intake temps

now, since i ran that time, the next day i went and put some cam gears on and set them to 2 deg advance on intake and 5 deg retard exhaust, ran the car, perfect, absolute animal compared to the 11.7 pass.... i couldn't believe it, this test was also at night, drove home, woke up im morning, and took for another drive, same as before, feeling lazy and choked up during the day, night came, abit better....

now tonight, i have noticed a big amount of power loss, and a shit load more laziness, the exhaust note has changed, sounds choked up, the engine builds boost good as i watch the gauge but its like the motor doesn't like the positive pressure its being given.... and lost throttle response...

i always put good fuel in aswell

also under load like at 2500rpm in 5th, ill put the throttle flat, and it will build boost probably up until 3000rpm and then the bov's start making their noises with my foot still to the floor...

now i think that this may be something to do with the computer, but im still unsure but wtf is the story with the bov's going off while still under load????

any1 with similar issues?? or theory's

any and all help is appreciated

cheers

denis

Maybe you stock has picked up knock and is running the other map. Try disconnecting you battery for a while and put on the interior light for 2 minutes then reconnect everything. Possible??? Also try the diagnostic on the ecu?

The factory ecu can by what I've been told reterd timing if it sensors knock something a pfc cannot.

Make sure your cat converter hasn't melted to pieces and become an exhaust restriction.

Only takes a minute or two to pull it out and have a look, and wont be difficult to replace if it is your problem.

ok, the cat is gutted aniways,

now i resset the timing back to standard and it seems to have more torque again, but that choking issue is still there, after about a 20 min drive when everyting warms up good, the choking issue rises again, could it be the o2 sensors???

i know that the cat o2 sensor is not there and the wire has been cut..... and they are definatly not touching....

yes 11.7 with only thoes mods...

pitty it wouldnt do a 18.7 now, jokes

    • A few suggestions: Do you have the option of retarding your exhaust cam gear to bring the power band over to the left? VCT would be turned off after you make peak torque, you see the power/torque will decay faster with it left on all the way to the limiter Once VCT is turned off, you'll find the motor will take a bit more timing being ramped in Send its mum, more boost! Of course, depends on your exhaust pressure.

    • I was back on the dyno again yesterday after completely revamping my methanol injection system. I was making 440kw at 19psi. Great, this is more then I was making last summer with my old meth system at that pressure, and I figured it would be smooth sailing up to 30+psi. We continued increasing from there and by 25psi, I had only hit 455kw. Dyno sadly lost utility power at this point and I left. We seemed to be on course to hit the same power wall as last summer (477kw@27psi). This is a built RB25 S1 stroked to a 2.8. Built and ported head with Kelford 272/262 cams. Precision 6466 Turbo. Tuner last year believed the power wall is a mix of RPM limitations (Hydro lifters/Limit set at 7600RPM) and fueling. With my new meth system, we're seeing zero knock now but it still won't go up.  What else can I do at this point? Here's my train of thought.  - It's clear from the dyno graph that I would easily make power to 8500+RPM but I'm limited to 7600RPM. I could risk increasing my limiter, but hydro lifters have me worried. What are my options here besides going NEO head or solid lifter conversion? I'm rocking a 1.05AR turbine on my 6466. Would dropping down to a .84 help shift that power down in anyway? - We're only seeing roughly a 30kw difference at the top end with VCT on or off. Is this normal? I want to confirm VCT is working properly. - Should I look into other cam options?  - Should I just keep increasing boost and see if she wakes up later on? I would expect to hit 600rwkw around 35psi with my 6466.
    • First thought is to use a ram mount (to hold the ipad) + windscreen suction mount. The arms on the ram mount can be as long as you like, should be able to position the ipad pretty well with that setup.
